During a recent investor's presentation, Namco Bandai relayed some projections for a few of its top titles -- specifically, recent releases Clash of the Titans and Dead to Rights: Retribution and upcoming Splatterhouse and Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom. The presentation is available here, though due to the fact that it's in some foreign language (what are they speaking, Klingon?), we defer to Siliconera's translation.
For Clash and DtR, Namco Bandai isn't expecting either to clear a million units: each is projected to sell around 700,000 copies. That's certainly nothing to scoff at. Namco Bandai has higher hopes for Splatterhouse and Majin, however, predicting sales of one million for each.
Really? A million units? Sure, we've heard that "sex sells," but charmingly bumbling monsters and bloody, deformed hockey mask-garbed behemoths? People can't possibly be into either of those things, right?

Oh my, they're in deep trouble if they think these games will sell that well.
PS: Retribution is actually pretty fun. I rented it and finished. Well worth a spin or two.

Yeah, how many people actually played Splatterhouse??? It was released on the TurboGrafx 16 and how many people had that? Just because they recycle a name, they think it will automatically generate sales. And to some degree, it will help. It's pathetic the lack of creativity in every entertainment industry. And even more so when people eat this sh#t up.

I'm iffy on Splatter House. If there's a demo and I like I'll buy it. Else, I'll wait for it to go Bargin Bin.

Splatterhouse looks cool. Hope the old 16-bit game is included on the disc.

I think Majin sounds like it could be decent. It's kind of like a mix of Where the Wild Things Are and The Last Guardian. The game play videos on youtube only look so so though.

Boss: "How many were you thinking for Splatterhouse?"
Employee: "About 300,000, sir. We figure that'll recoup our losses and produce satisfactory profits."
Boss: "Poppycock! It's an IP from people's youths--nostalgia makes things at least three times better! A million units!"
Employee: "Excuse me, sir?"
Boss: "A million! I say we'll sell a million!"
Employee: "Okay, sir. Would you like to talk about Majin now?"
Boss: "A million!"
Employee: "Yes, a million for Splatterhouse. Now what about Majin?"
Boss: "A million!"
Employee: "But sir, it's a new IP--"
Boss: "Million!"
Employee: "...yes, sir."

700,000 for real? I doubt alot of current gen gamers were even old enough or born that remember splatterhouse. And as for Dead to Rights, its just a sub par game with sub par graphics.
My prediction is for both is under 200,000 or less. If they really want Splatterhouse to be a hit its has to be over the top gross and with a huge amount of graphic violence that would make anyone sick to there stomach.

DtR is not very good, but it's a beat-'em-up with guns and blood and a dog that always looks like it's walking an inch above the ground. I wager 100-150K.

Hopefully each of those games can't at LEAST pull off 150,000 sales each so that Namco Bandai can pay off the heavy drug use that goes into the Sales Projection Department.

MAYBE 1 million over 10 years. But my hopes are not high for those titles.

LOL i was thinking the same.
Splatterhouse 2 and 3 back in the Genesis were lots of fun, but i dunno if the new one will do it justice, production was troubled, Namco pulled the game from one developer and tossed it to another... we'll see.
Majin looks like a decent adventure game with a kid and a monster, too bad there's a little game called The Last Guardian also heading our way. Game Republic must be working under pressure to release their game first.
