We struggle to find anything else to say about the Fallout: New Vegas boxart that's been revealed via the Bethesda Blog. Depicting a single New California Republic Ranger standing alone (you know, the guy from the first trailer?), he wields his pistol, presumably ready for any ne'er-do-wells lurking. Or maybe he's just showing his gun to us? We can't imagine it's very impressive, what with all the sand in the post-apocalyptic desert.
Of course, if the regular edition of the game doesn't do it for you, don't forget there's a collector's edition you can snag for $79.99 on PS3 and Xbox and $69.99 on PC -- or about 7,162 bottle caps.*
*Note: Please don't mail bottle caps to Bethesda.

That's pretty BA. Except, the background is kinda bland. But eh, looks pretty good.

I love the Box are too, It's not overdone, not trying to appeal to those who judge books by their cover is a good goal, people are going to buy this based on the Fallout universe and whether or not it's reviews are good.

It fits very well with the PS3 case because of the dark colors. The colors kind of clash with the white and green of the 360 case. Regardless, it's a great looking cover.

Tbh, the "white & green" of 360 cases looks hideous now.

While you guys stare at the colors on the boxes, I'll be playing the games that come in them.

It's a shame box art isn't as relevant as it used to be. For all you kids out there; there once was a time before the Internet, it was a magical time. A time where you went into a video game store and you knew nothing about the game before buying it, all you had to go by was the box. No looking up gameplay vids or reviews, just pure aesthetics.
Man, I miss those days

The article is about the box art and not the game itself, so I don't know what you're getting at.

@ Traceur_Ryuk Part 2
I can't believe you miss those days later, you miss companies trying to sell you a crap game by disguising it in really cool cover?
I mean word of mouth was really the only way to tell if a game was good and for that to happen there had to be a lot of people buying shit games.

Bethesda, you know I will be all over that CE. The box art could be entirely black for all I care.

I'm right there with ya! The box art imo is awesome. I do have to say though... I don't like it as much as the original Fallout 3 box art.

is there a release date on this? is it vague? Like "Fall" or "2011"? I know a quick search could answer my question, but I'll just leave it up to you fine people here.

I don't care what the box looks like, I'll see it once then the game will stay in my Xbox until the next Fallout comes out.

Is it me or is the art of the box art dead this generation? It's just been generic models and fancy backgrounds.

At least they're not the Hollywood facial collage cover arts/posters.

I just couldn't get into it. The short story, not nearly as many side missions as Oblivion, the gameplay, lack of exploration. And it's not just those, I can get passed those, but there's another reason I just can't put into words... I dunno
Yeah, I know a lot of that is fixed with the DLC but after playing it I just couldn't bring myself to buy any.

I know it's not as long as oblivion, but I spent 100 hours easily without any dlc on just my good karma character. God only knows how many hours I've spent including my bad karma character. I guess the world gets kind of bland with the same old rocks and brown scenery, but honestly it never seemed to bother me. I'm the opposite of you sort of, because I just couldn't get into Oblivion. I spent 30 hours and said screw it. There's another reason I can't put into words as well.
People just have different tastes. I doubt you'll even want to try New Vegas because honestly its the same sh*t different scenery, story, and characters, which is perfectly fine with me. :) Hopefully when they finally get around to making a new Elder Scrolls game I can really sink some hours into that.

Me too, I just couldn't get into Oblivion, so It was kinda a gamble for me to try Fallout 3 and boy did that gamble pay off, It was/is the first introduction for me to the Fallout universe and it blew me away.
and the funny thing is when watching The Road and The Book of Eli I couldn't help but compare those settings against what I played in Fallout, ei. roaming gangs, cannibalism, radiation and lack of clean water..

To be honest, I don't care very much for this box art, and kinda getting tired of seeing this same guy on every page about Fallout New Vegas. Oh well, insta-buy for me anyways.

Honestly I could care less about the boxart for this game. i just know it's going to kick major ass!!!

If you can hand-make 7,176 nuka cola caps, I think Bethesda might actually send you a copy of the game if you do a good job of it.

Great, now I just have to drink 7,176 Nuka-Cola bottles and send it in.

Kinda makes me wish they'd make a Fallout style game based on the old Rifts RPG. I'd buy that.

At least with Fallout 3, you could steal, though perhaps feel like a rat bastard about it.
There was no point to stealing anything in Oblivion, and it never made any sense either, some guard coming by to beat your ass into the ground for taking a spoon or something.

When I started playing Oblivion, my noobness allowed me to steal a horse. I was like - 'hey cool, I just stole a horse, don't have to buy one'
I proceeded to ride across the province, running away from my crime. Enjoying the ride and the wind in my hair.
I got off the horse and it turned around and walked all the way back tot he stable I lifted it from.
Imagine the dissapointment. hahahaha!

Now I just have to decide which platform... I think straight PC this time.
Fallout 3 is the only game I've ever bought twice. Once for Xbox and a PC copy after I beat the Xbox one. All those mods on PC!
Anybody know if it's using games for windows LIVE?

Dammit anyone notice no "live" on the PC ver. guess no doubling up on those achievements.

To me, it looks like a frame from an animated CGI film they were attempting to make 12 years ago. It just looks bad.
The game looks fun and all, but man, that cover art is bad... I don't get it.

They are saying "We have already built the Fallout brand, and you know it's excellent, so we do not require the overt marketing of a flashy box." And they are right. It's probably a somber game again, and the box art fits well with the last one.
They just don't feel they need to go overboard. Look at the Oblivion box art.
I'd be more surprised if they had something sweet on there.
This might be a philosophical issue. They seem to not be concerned with selling technologically improved games either. Just a focus on tons of content with the same engine, because that's worked very well already.

I like the box art, simple works. Though I look at the box art for as long as it takes to get home and insert disk. Mostly I look at the spine when it's shelved with the rest of it's new homies.
HOW ABOUT SOME SPINE ART GUYS?!?!
