Sorry guys but I just have to say it. Sometimes the Joystiq community really pisses me off, spamming articles with complete bullshit. Look, you guys don't think the map packs are worth $15, we get it. There's really no need to go into every article saying "hurrr Activision suxors lololl BFBC2!!1!".

I personally don't think BF:BC2 is worth $60, I played it for like 20 minutes and got bored. But since I don't care, I don't bother commenting on the BF:BC2 articles. See how that works?

I think you're missing the overarching point of all these comments: people are afraid that if these map packs sell consistently for $15 because other people can't keep their wallet in their pants, then other companies will follow suit and start charging more for other DLC as well. Perhaps you missed all the complaining in the recent EA threads, where people don't want to have to buy VIP/etc. if they buy a used game, but it's exactly the same argument. If you let a company get away with a higher price, it'll set a new precedent (see: slippery slope).

The obvious question for all of you price-defenders here is at what price would you exit the market? Would you pay $20 for these packs? $25? I understand that they are a lot of fun, and you claim to get your money's worth, so how much is actually worth to you? An interesting experiment is to disregard retailer price and ask yourself (which is hard to do honestly given knowledge of the actual price) how you'd pay for a pack like this. If you'd been asked before the stimulus package was announced, I wonder what you'd say.

Though it's a stretch of an analogy, this is a lot like people who bought houses way out of their price range with obviously flawed mortgages. The house was too expensive, but they just couldn't contain themselves and be responsible. Maybe we'll see a DLC bubble form and then the game economy will collapse (/sarcasm).

You also shoot your own point in the foot when you say that BFBC2 wasn't worth the $60, because $60 is the established price point for new games. By buying $15 DLC, you are helping establish another high price standard and will be disappointed more frequently with future $15 DLC.

There is a lot wrong with your statement. First of all, It's the the same price relative to previous COD map packs (3 for $10). Secondly, I don't think any company would be foolish enough to mimic the price of a multi-million selling franchise, I see no trend happening with this pricing.

It's fine if you see it that way but saying I'm missing the point of these comments is wrong. Do you think the majority of these comments have that mentality? Sure some do, but not most. A comment at random;

"Wait, 5 CoD maps costs $15?
lmao"

Now, I'm not a mind reader but I believe he is simply insinuating that they are too much. I highly doubt he is thinking about the impact in the long run.

i agree about the BC2 ranting, and the MW2 hating. but imo the complaining about the DLC price is legitimate. if millions of people keep buying DLC at this price, other producers will start charging the same, and i don't want to miss out on content for other games. eventually they could start charging even more...

So in less than 2 month, (assuming most people that paid for the first map pack will pay for this one too) Activision would make +50% the game price.

I love BFBC2. I've already played around 28 hours of MP alone and I've only had it a few weeks. And b/c I bought it new, I'm a VIP and thus get certain maps or game modes for free.

Now as for MW2, this price is really ridiculous. $30 for 6 new maps and 4 old ones. That's exorbitant, IMO. But sadly lots of people will buy these and more. That's fine, just try not to justify the purchases versus buying food or "going out". That's just silly. Just say you've got the extra dough and want to blow it on these maps. Feed the machine that is Activision for all I care.

so 4 of my friends that didn't play CoD4 shouldn't buy it because the maps are "old"?

I'll let them know.

Should I not buy Super street fighter because most of the characters are old? I mean I didn't play it Street fighter 4 but I don't want to play with old characters.

The only thing from CoD4 I got to play was some of the single player, unfortunately.

So they are all new to me! $15 for 5 new maps?! Sign me up!

@space, i agree with your point. almost my entire friends list says "last seen playing MW2." so i completely understand why everyone is still playing it including myself. the point i was trying to make is what is the better deal, $30 on 10 new maps or using that money to get BF. i know not everyone can afford every new game that comes out but if you have enough money to get both map packs then i dont think im making that huge of an assumption that you probably have enough to buy a new game.

and as a side note to the forum, i predict that BFBC2 is to MW2 as COD 4 was to Halo 3. its only a matter of time and word of mouth.

To Everyone still drinking the MW2 DLC kool-aid... IF YOU BOUGHT COD 4 AND YOU OWN MW2 AND THEN YOU BUY BOTH MW2 MAP PACKS YOU ARE PAYING $30 FOR 40% OF THIS CONTENT TWICE. Let me break that down for you some more. There are 16 original maps in MW2 (non DLC), when MW3 comes out (cuz you know it will) it will take $60 to purchase all of the MW2 original maps so you can play them on MW3. $ixty Dollar$! And that doesn't even count the new maps in the map packs!

I finally gave in 2 weeks after the Stimulus package came out and paid the absurd amount for it and felt so burned after-wards. I wont make that mistake again.

So I'll ask everyone that justifies and supports $15 for 3 new maps and 2 old ones to do me a favor. Go to any local video game retailer and buy a new copy of MW2... that's right, go buy it all over again, becuz sooner or later you'll do it either way.

If it was $15 for 10 maps I might have bought it the first time around, but I skipped on the last one and I sure as hell am not gonna buy both now.

MW2 had awesome single player, but the multiplayer got totally boring after I got most of the weapons I wanted.

You can't compare BFBC2 to MW2 anyways, MW2 is suppose to be a spam fest, it's mostly death matches, even in capture the flag type modes. It's built around small area's to do that. BFBC2 is a war "strategy" shooter, you capture nodes to move up in the map, they're 2 completely different games.

Fry's near my house is selling BF:BC2 on the PC for $25 and PS3/360 for $35 this week (unfortunately frys.com is OOS). For roughly the same price as these two map packs, you will be able to purchase 100x the fun, and will get the recent and upcoming DLC for free as well. Just because you made a mistake on the first shooter, doesn't mean you have to continue down the path with the other lemmings.

yeah people don't get it. I used to own both, and yeah BFBC2 is great...arguably better. But in the Multiplayer world the game with the support of my best friends will always win, no matter what game it is.

as this person states it's still another shooter, and as I've stated before MW2 has the support of every one of my best friends.

That being said, My friends aren't big gamers they just play MW2 and one other game. You try convincing them that the other game should be a another shooter and not madden or MLB10

Its the same boring stuff from 2007. I learned my lesson, i wont be buying the new maps from activision any more. i hope alot of noise is being made over this scam. Here's a tip for all the PS3 users...you can SHARE the map pack with your friends, thus offsetting the cost (I did this with the last map pack).

All you have to do is give your log in info to your buddies and they can download the map pack to their PS3. You can do this with up to 5 friends, which if you get them to pay you will end up costing each person 3 bucks.

Activision can suck it!

Everyone saying $30 for both map packs is a better value than blah blah blah.

It seems most of you forgot you already spent $60 on this game.

So would a brand new game with these "extra" maps be worth $90 to you retail?

All this tells me is that companies can make a game with just enough content to hook you, and then charge you every few months for more content, swindling you into thinking you only spent $15 on this new game, when in reality you already spent $60.

Comparing $15 here vs $15 for say Battlefield 1943 isn't a fair comparison at all, since BF1943 is a FULL game. This is an EXTRA $15 on top your $60 original purchase.

What isn't "full" about the standalone MW2 release? Sure the single player is kind of short, but you get spec ops which I have yet to master and then the multiplayer came with what, 16 maps? That is more than 'enough to get the player hooked'. Unless by just barely hooked, you mean 300+ hours. Then yeah, I was *barely* hooked.

And I am not making excuses for the game. Sure, some of it is short, but I got my moneys worth and then some. Especially compared to other games I have purchased in the last year.

Also, I bought mine from Amazon for $40 ;)

And lastly, let me throw this out there. If BF was anywhere near the success of MW2, you would more than likely see EA attempting to pull a similar price scheme. Not saying they *would*, but if they were on top, they might. The reason they are playing it safe with BF is because they know they have to. They MUST undercut MW2 at every turn or there is no possible way it will overtake them and they know it.

Fun is all relative. Of course everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I TRULY do not feel B:BC is better than MW2 for what I want in my shooters. And I am not afraid to say it here on this board of vultures!

Seriously, I like the run and gun type stuff more than tactical. Only because for tactical to truly work, you need a team that works together. And without time to spend in clans and such, I find myself alone a lot of times. And alone is when I do best. Trust me, MW2 is not broken ;)

Lastly, this has always been true. I was a HUGE ALLIED ASSAULT fan and then the original Battlefield came out (1942?). I stuck with AA.

Lol Activision still keeps reaping in all the dumb people out there. Only the smart people know there trying to see what "the dumb people" will pay for maps. Apparently all of you "suckers" fell for their trap congratulations you just bought 2 map packs for half of the games worth. Now ask yourself this is half of call of duty's worth, worth 10 maps (none the less 4 that are just copy and paste and that we have all played and are bored all of). Activision is just a bunch of greedy morons sitting on there fat ases reaping in all the money you guys are wasting. Sooner or later their going to be pricing dlc at 20 dollars a piece and you know what if these morons keep buying why not jack it up to 30. You are the people that are spoiling it for everyone else that would like to buy but don't want to be ripped off like I. Solution? DONT BUY THE MAPS. They will see that there prices are ridiculous and lower them to a reasonable standard and none of us will be complaining. Sure my parents buy them but what about the people that work for our hard earned money not so fun anymore is it.
