Red Dead Redemption gets exclusive content on PS3

Although its official release date is May 18th, some retailers are selling early copies of Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption. To the surprise of the few that hijacked an early copy, the PS3 version includes exclusive content, marked by a special sticker pasted on the box. According to the packaging, it includes "PlayStation 3 exclusive content" like "Solomon's Folly Gang Hideout" and the "Walton Gang Outfit." There is no sticker on the Xbox 360 version.

We're surprised neither Rockstar Games nor Sony have yet to announce this potentially platform-deciding detail; thankfully, there's still time to change your pre-order, for those of you that absolutely need to ride around the Wild West wearing a top hat. Assuming, of course, you haven't already purchased the game from your local street date-breaking store.

boo...hiss....Sony paid money for exclusive content! That's so wrong! Why can't MS ever do that!?

Who says that Sony spent any money what so ever on this? Plus its just an outfit and a house, barely content at all. I wouldn't even use the voucher, I never do for these meaningless add ons. Unless it levels or game modes I really don't care.

I doubt they paid to have this done, it looks minimal, plus it wasn't advertised in any way.

I know. I'm just kidding. I'm actually wondering if the 360 version may have another similar "exclusive"

Hi, this is my friend Grand Theft Auto IV. Let me introduce you to a year of platform exclusivity DLC. He was on the news for about 6 months prior to release about MS shelling out $50mil for exclusive DLC.

That being said, I preordered the 360 version and stand by my decision. I just ordered six new games for my PS3 so my 360 needs some attention too XD

Better to be happy for the PS3 consumers than complain about not getting it for 360. I am getting my copy on 360 also. Either way the game is going to be amazing. And six new games? You're going to have months of playtime!

I completely support you being happy for PS3 owners on this one, they get shafted on a ton of 360 exclusives so it's nice that they get a slice of the pie every now and then too.

Meh on high plains. "Watch Fistful of dollars" and "For a few dollars more." Classic Leone/Eastwood. Also must watch "Once upon a time in the west."

I hope no particular console gets exclusive episodes.

I reserved this for the 360, I may consider changing my reserve to the PS3...

sounds like a house save point and an outfit, not actual story content, so who cares...

PS3 owners are just happy to have something before the Xbox crowd, pretty much never happens

I might think about changing my pre-order to PS3 if I knew more than one other person with a PS3. Can't pass up riding as a posse on Live. If any of the DLC content is sweet I'll pick it up when it goes cross platform in a few months.

based on the difference between a dvd9 and a blu-ray disc, sony really should have more games with more exclusive content. multi-platform games are really holding the ps3 back as far as overall potential is concerned.

More content equals more money. I don't think disc space holds them back in most cases.

Don't get too excited, this content is likely to generate buzz for the ps3 version which will sell less. This content is so insignificant that if it really didn't fit on the 360 disc, they could have put a code in the box and let us download it over XBL.

Regardless, there are so many different outfits, preorder bonuses items, etc. that give you some kind of buff in campaign mode that I don't care. Surely most people realize that any "starting" bonus item you get will be inferior to items you find 10 hours into the game (and upgrade if it's an option.)
