We've known about the ability to age and "revert" objects and people in Singularityfor a while. It acts as a way to destroy cover, rebuild broken bridges and age enemy soldiers into dust. We wondered before why reverting soldiers didn't turn them into babies, and now we know why: It actually turns them into an exploding pile of goo. Okay, so you can also revert enemies into a raging, feral beast but, come on, exploding pile of goo (as seen in the video after the break).
You didn't get the same feel when you watched the new Portal trailer? Of course it's not that much like Portal, but the use of blueprints to introduce the device was similar to that of Portal's.
the game informer issue that unveiled this game described those creatures as the effects of what happens when people get messed up with the chronotons. ( That might be what they're called, or it could just be from that futurama episode). So they aren't really de aged or even aged, it's like their hit with "time radiation" or something that mutates them
Sooooo, it's ANOTHER game with a time rewind gimmick that probably only really works when a level requires it, but with an added enemy-exploding gimmick?
I loved both X-men Legends games and Jedi Academy too. The original Soldier of Fortune is a classic and as much crap as it seems to get, i still loved Quake 4 (one of the few games to really make me physically ill).

I agree with the "won't buy". It's published by Activision = won't buy. Full Stop.
Raven makes fantastic games... It's a shame they chose a publisher that milks franchises down to dry, dusty bones, and chooses to publish/develop rehashes, sequels, add-on packs, remakes, and movie-tie-ins over original, unique and exciting games.
And to top it all off, they've got a CEO that is a complete, and utter idiot, who cares extremely little for his customers, his product, and his employees.
No, I don't think I'm going to give them any more of my money.
Published smublished, Raven is a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision, as is Infinity Ward, Neversoft, and Bizarre Creations, among others. They ARE Activision, no ifs ands or buts about it.
So you guys are going to miss out on good games simply because they are published by Activision? You're really going to miss out on Diablo 3, Starcraft 2 and Blur? This pathetic Activision boycott reminds me of someone i saw posting on Vgchartz forums 2 days ago saying he has an EA boycott going for 12 years and hence won't buy NBA Jam on the Wii. Nothing any of you are doing is hurting the bottom line of Activision, the only people missing out is you, on good games. Millions of gamers around the world will continue to buy the Guitar Hero and COD games because they are fans of the franchise, what a few people on a few blogs do means nothing. You're the idiots missing out.
And Kevlar, Raven has been a part of Activision for 12 years or so, back when Activision wasn't milking franchises as much, so where is your logic there. As evil as a publisher might be, they still front the money to pay for all the games we enjoy. Anyone who has some pathetic anti-Activision agenda is doing nothing except make themselves look like a douche. I'll send you a hello when i buy Starcraft 2 btw.
If there's any Activision games we should buying, it's one like this. We need to support new IP's and fresh ideas. Sure it's a FPS with time mechanics(nothing entirely new), but at least it's not Call of Duty 14.
Why no baby? I'm thinking reverting soldiers into babies which you then stomp on or *shoot with a gun* would kinda creep even the most hardcore out. Just sayin....
Oh, got it. They aren't actually going for a time travel mechanic, just a "magic" mechanic, but magic doesn't sell as well as sci-fi in the 18-25 demo according to market experts.
The mechanic seems cool, but it will certainly be limited to only certain objects. The game would be spectacular if you could manipulate every since object, but that would sound like a nightmare to program for.
Yeah I kinda wish you could also turn enemies into babies "BABALITY!"
Even if this is generic (hint: it's not), Split Second is clearly the inferior game, it's just a regular racing game, but things fall in front of you occasionally. Blur might not do anything truly new to racing games, but it certainly does it well
1) Cool looking game trailer is releasd 2) Everyone bitches and complains about how it ripped off such and such and looks like such and such 3) Game is released 4) Same people are now gushing over how great it is declaring it TEH BEST EVA!
It would be nice if we could just skip step 2. It would eliminate 99% of the comments here
Seriously, I was thinking the same thing. People just like to hear themselves talk. Wait, don't people bitch about PACHTER speculating? Geez... At least he's getting money for it.
But seriously, that looks alright. I'm not quite sure how shooting time at people turns them into monsters but whatever. Seems like a maybe to me if I can get a new pc.
Nowhere near to this level. You couldn't individually alter time for specific objects. You could only temporarily slow, pause or rewind the time around you.
I had hope for this game, but this trailer kind of disappoints me. For me it starts to seem like the device is wasted potential. Why are they bloating with killing enemies with it? The bullet does exactly the same thing and I figure it will be slower and less practical to age them or turn them into GOO. And aging/reverting cover? God, it really starts to look like it will only be a FPS with a useless gimmick. Could be wrong though.
Foetoid, you're completely missing the point of why Activision is being boycotted. You make it sound petty and unfounded, when it is not. When the CEO is a cocky smartmouth who has little respect for anybody but his stockholders and believes that milking money by screwing over developers and releasing the same shitty games over and over again, that's when I take issue.
Hell, I'm okay with companies wanting money but Activision's methods feel more like extortion.
And, yes, I will Miss Diablo 3, Starcraft 2, and Blur. I'll miss Singularity, Transformers: War for Cybertron, and Wipeout: The Game. I'll miss the next 20 Call of Dutys and 40 Guitar Heros if I need to. Instead I'll continue playing games from companies that I don't feel like are intentionally screwing me over.
As is said, the only way to teach money whores like this a lesson is by not giving them money. So I am doing just that, and if you have issue with that then feel free to go run a money laundering bank.
Yeah good call man. I'm sure of the 10's of millions of copies of the games you just mentioned won't be anywhere near enough for them. They need your 1 sale dude, or they are going under. The raving lunacy of a few who don't agree with the tactics or methods of 1 publisher is going to make no difference to said publisher or it's bottom line. The only things you are achieving is A: Looking like an idiot and B: Missing out on fantastic games, making you look like a BIGGER idiot. So yes, petty and unfounded is EXACTLY what it is since it achieves nothing but stopping yourself from playing amazing games. I take that other guy on the Vgchartz forums as example. Boycotting EA for the last 12 years for whatever reason he has, he's missed out on so many A+ games it boggles the mind. Both Mass Effect games spring to mind immediately. Its all total idiocy and makes no sense to punish yourself to make a point that won't be heard.
@ Foetoid Stop calling everyone who does agree with you an idiot, I'm not necessarily boycotting Activision but starcraft, blur, Diablo, the next 20 CD, and the next 40 guitar hero's, don't interest me in the least. Just because people want to take a stand per say, for what the believe in that doesn't make them any less of a supposed idiot than you are. I'm starting to think that Activision is paying you.
Well, more specifically, your point makes no sense. You say "Buy it because it makes no difference." Hell, I'll even agree that just me not buying their game will make no difference. But, I am not the only one. There are thousands out there who are just as pissed as I am and I'd be doing a disservice to gamers if I financed Activision in anyway.
You're the one that looks like an idiot for saying that one vote doesn't count. One vote DOES count when there are thousands of them.
