Remedy has released what's presumably the final Alan Wake trailer, entitled "Building the Drama." It's dramatic: knowing glances, dark proclamations, brooding environments, floating review scores -- all here. And if this final tease doesn't convince you, allow us to: The game is really good.
Alan Wake will be available from North American retailers tomorrow, May 18.

Well I'm getting the game tomorrow from gamefly. I went with Alan Wake over Red Dead and Prince of Persia hopefully I made the right choice.

RDR is fantastic, but it starts to feel like GTA IV in the west. While that's to be expected from Rockstar, if you disliked the core feel and gameplay from GTA IV -- which I know many did -- you won't be too happy with RDR.
Alan Wake, however, hasa better story and atmosphere. And the gameplay is also very well done. I'd argue that it actually feels less clunky than GTA IV/RDR in terms of the combat and how the characters navigate the environment.
Whoever says that Alan Wake ran ot of ideas... well, isn't being quite so honest. The game has a ton of different ways it approaches combat and other situations (driving, light mechanics, etc). I have to wonder if these people actually played it, completed it, or they're just being dishonest entirely.
If you like a polished cinematic blockbuster with fantastic visuals (ie: Uncharted 2), Alan Wake delivers in spades.

They are doing the same trailer that critically-acclaimed movies do.
Congrats video games! You're no longer for children!

Waiting on Red Dead, that and MAG will be my summer games, so I'm definitely picking this up tomorrow. Waited long enough, and I'm loving everything I've seen so far.

have beaten this game, and going back through to get all the collectables, and it is freakin awesome.
the story does a real good job, in the way it is told, and the episodic format works really well.
get this game! go buy it now!

Thank god for Europe getting a game early for once. Almost through my second play (on Nightmare difficulty) - and it was well worth the wait.
It was funny seeing people complaining about the length of the game - I heard so many pirates say it was only 6 hours long. Fact is it took me and most people I know at least 11 hours to finish the game on normal, and thats without much exploring.
I think they were just trying to show off by saying they'd played it early, and they hadnt actually finished it. Pirating b*stards spreading lies and rumours.

11 hours is stretching it. There isn't really much exploring to do, short of collection arbitrary items along the way. I'd say just about 7-9 hours is where people will fall.
Collecting thermos jars and shooting cans got super boring after the first couple chapters, so I just kept marching down the path to complete the story after that.

I streamed the game to JTV as i was playing it, so i know how long it took - I only really got stuck on a couple of 'ambush' areas a few times and like I said i didnt explore much (not like theres much to explore for, as you said) - and it took me roughly 11 hours.
I really challange anyone to get through the game in 7 hours. Running past most of the enemies and skipping the cutscenes could get you close to that, but if thats how people have been playing it, theres no wonder they complain.. and they have no right to. This game needs to be savoured.

I was freaking out over whether or not to get this or RDR first...
Weighing them out, I've decided it's probably a better idea to get a more story focused game where I can really indulge myself.
I mean Red Dead definitely has more gameplay offerings and probably 100x more lasting appeal, but Alan Wakes atmosphere probably won me over, as tantalizing as RDR is

I finish the game in 7 hour; I recommend not buying the game.
I've completed the game, here are my thoughts.
Pro
+ Great graphics
+ Puzzle solving is good, but thanfully not too hard
+ Challenging (towards the end)
+ Some of the music
+ Average voice acting
Con
- Screen tearing
- Bad lip synching
- Samey graphics, and to a lesser extent, gameplay
- Considerably more linear than I thought it would be
- The ending
- Too short

FYI: Alan Wake isn't playable in PS3. I think you were playing Heavy Rain.
Not like I'd trust a fellow named "aznmetalpunksta", though. No disrespect to you, it's just the name that rubs me wrong. Stay core, bro!

This looks awesome, but I'm gonna wait until reviews for PoP start popping up to make a decision on what game to get this month. I wish I had more money.

The game looks sweet, and I do want it, but even in that trailer your could tell that the animation and lip-syncing were lacking. Damn...
