Not impressed.

One of the best things about the original Deus Ex was that almost every location was based on a real world location - e.g. building blueprints etc. This made the game very realisitc and meant you could reach your objective via MANY possible pathways.

I'm actually looking forward to see the style, and how this will fit with the first Deus Ex.

But as you said. It is the multiple choice about pathways, alliances, conversations, upgrades and augmentations that makes up the goodness of what Deus Ex is all about.

The article is more about the superficial presentation, which while good, is not the main essence.

twelve to thirteen hundred props

OMG!

Please, tell me this means that the game won't last 4 hours till you see the ending!

I want a 40 hour gameplay like the original Deus Ex, and yes we can make time for it.

I do like the direction, overall... but at the same time I feel they went a little too far in some areas. Like those ridiculous collars.

Sadly, thats probably what its going to be. They have a lot to make up for since the Invisible war turd they dropped

Please . . . Invisible War was anything but a turd. It was an exceptionally competent game that had the misfortune of being a sequel to one of the best games of all time. I'd say it fills its role nicely, it's entirely playable and indeed, memorable, and I dare say it accomplishes the job of being one of the most fantastic yet unnecessary sequels infinitely better than Bioshock 2 could ever dream.

The one improvement this game definitely needs over it's predecessor (and I'm not even counting IW) is consistency.
I remember playing the original, helping out the Illuminati all the way through, only to accidentally do the AI's final objectives and, oops? Getting the "AI" ending.

I'm open to change. Deus Ex 1 was directed by Specter and he did what worked for him. The best thing they can do for the series is go with their instinct but also while keeping the integrity of the series.

What he said about "illustration over simulation" totally struck a chord for me. I like games to be in depth and have as realistic of mechanics as possible for the most part, but I love a game that has a distinctive style. It really does help it capture my imagination and make me want to be drawn into it's world.
