Does anyone find it sad that they spent all that time and money porting FF13 to the 360 only for the Japanese sales to pump out more than the U.S/EU sales on just 1 console?

I was saying instead of concentrating on trying to capture the 360 audience this cycle which hasn't helped them at all (with the exception of FF13), they should have just been concentrating on their big titles on systems they know will sell on while re-releasing their old ones for all the download services, how happy would we be if ps3, 360 and wii owners could all download most if not all of the really good square RPGs from the 1990s?

I'm saying they had their priorities wrong

Their priority is the bottom line, which I think is/was likely better served by porting it. They can surely release more older FFs and make profit but I think they made the right call focusing on the new rather than the old. That said I think FFXIII is a lousy videogame.

Just Cause 2 is an amazing game. It's too bad it didn't catch on.

@Julian I'm not quite sure what you're saying exactly?

I'm surprised that FFXIII sold the most in JPN.
Because in JPN, FFXIII was only released on the PS3.
And there are alot more foreign users if you add PS3 and 360 users.

Overall, the PS3 version is where they got the profit. The 360 version is like tips.

@Ballistic H
I didn't know how much it sold for each console,
but if thats true, I wonder if it was worth the development cost porting it to the 360.

Seriously, you'd think a culture like theirs would enjoy a man in tights and a cape chasing after a clown and some scantily-clad women.

They don't tend to buy non-Japanese games much. Whereas North American and European gamers are more worldly in their tastes.

Batman turned out amazing. I still want purchase a copy, even though I've already beaten, to add to my collection. Amazon will have a great deal for the standard or GOTY eventually!

I can't wait to play Kane & Lynch 2! It looks so gritty... The multiplayer so far looks incredible. August is gonna be a huge month for me!

I'm confused...is that a graph up top, or the walkthrough map of the first few levels of FFXIII?

Most of the game is a straight line, not just the 1st few levels. The people out there saying this game 'opens up' later in the game must be so blown away by how linear it is that the ability to once in a blue moon go a slightly different direction amazes them. I'm at the end of chapter 12, and no it doesn't really open up to any respectable degree to this point, and that's after 47 hrs.

Eh, Enix set up its manga publication division a long time ago. Fullmetal Alchemist was published by it, along with official strategy guides etc. They're also making toys for series not published by them, such as the Vagabond models.

It's amazing DQ IX completely blew away FF XIII in Japan. I know they like their DQ, but I thought they liked FF more than that. I guess they don't like high-tech gaming as much as over here, though, they can stick to the DS.

It might have to do with the fact that FF XIII - while getting great reviews - has been met with a mixed reaction from fans. "It's great after the first 20 hours" doesn't scream "BUY ME."

I don't think there was ever a time when a FF game outsold DQ in Japan. I think the closest was between FF5 and DQ5. FF9 and DQ7 was released in the same year in Japan for the PS, and DQ7 outsold FF9 for like 1 million copies. Given the state that DS and PS3 are in, it's not too surprising at the difference here.

i don't see how anyone can find sales of 1.79 million units in north America as bad.the sale #s between Japan & America our not that off from one another. i would think, thats not a bad figure in sales for its first time release on a different console.(jmho)

What's with the non-existent sales of Batman AA in Japan? Seriously Japan, buy some Western titles once in a while. We buy your JRPGs in droves, you could at least return the damn favor.

I remember when FFXIII's director defended FFXIII by saying Westerners just don't get what they were trying to do with the Eastern-made game, but the opposite is far worse, as seen here. Is there ANY Western made game that has EVER sold worth a damn in Japan?

I think GTA and CoD 4 did good for a western game. Especially CoD because its a FPS game.
