I'm still not even sure why they decided to MAKE this game, and the review seems to indicate that it's simply a step backward in a number of ways. Why not continue on from the last game, instead? This just seems so out of place, and it's the first PoP game I'm not REALLY excited for.

I'd still like to try it and make my own judgement, but... eh. Still just seems weird.

Why they decided to make the game is simple... To cash in on all the publicity the franchise is getting from the movie right now.

*yawn* Had a feeling this was just a cashin cause of the movie, but they know movie-based games suck so they took a new approach.

They started working on this one around the same time as the last game. At some point they decided to shelve this and focus on the reboot. But now that a movie's coming out based on SoT they decided to put out this game since it follows SoT.

*sigh* I was hoping this would be the series return to form. Sands of Time was one of the best 3D Platformers I've played.

Oh well, whatever.

Ohh Look.. another FANTASTIC Joystiq review /sarcasm

Seriously.. you guys have trashed every game that is any good lately. Splinter Cell, Skate 3... now Prince of Persia. OK granted I haven't gotten a chance to play the new Prince yet but.. it looks pretty innovative to me with the freezing the water and such.. but given your past track record..I'm seriously not even going to give this review a second thought. I'll play the game myself and then... if I agree.. I will come back and say I was wrong.. somehow.. I doubt i'll be wrong and will really enjoy the new Prince of Persia. I would have gotten it last night.. but you know.. Red Dead came out too. Have you reviewed that yet? I bet you guys will trash it too.

Dude, reviews are just OPINION. If you go buy the game and end up liking it, all power to you. Randy apparently thinks this game is a step backwards, but again it is his opinion.

Reviews are really just a guideline for your purchase, the only opinion that should matter is your own.

All I hear you saying is "WAAAAAAAHHHH JOYSTIQ DON'T LIKE MY GAME!!"

How can you be upset with Joystiq for having their own freaking opinion. I find their objective reviews refreshing honestly. Most reviewers are all too quick to dole out perfect scores; at least Joystiq tells it like it is.

It's his opinion, play the game if you want he is just telling you his experience. By the way they haven't reviewed Red Dead because Rockstar only sends the game out after the game is released. Unless you are IGN or they love you.

Man, it must be tough having Joystiq reviews dictating your game purchases. If only there was some way to ignore what they said and just make up your own mind.

What, it's innovative because of one mechanic? That single mechanic forgives the mediocre graphics and button-bashing fights? I loved Prince 2008 and by comparison just from looking at trailers from this one... it doesn't vibrate that AAA quality PoP should have.

It's also stupid to say Joystiq trashes popular games, they have a few reviewers with their own particular tastes you know. It's not as if Joystiq is one entity intent on giving bad reviews. And I don't see what's wrong with being critical? Don't you want your favorite medium to improve? I hate it when people say; 'It's not a GotY, but it's still enjoyable...'. Yeah, but almost all games nowadays are enjoyable, quality has gone up, but we must stay critical, games aren't cheap.

Joystiq only gives negative reviews? Where have you been? Obviously, you're only ticked because they didn't like a handful of games you liked. 3D Dot Game Heroes just came out, and their review for that was very favorable. Get a life and stop lying.

It's quite obvious from screenshots alone that graphically the textures were made for the Wii and only enhanced for the HD versions.

It almost looks like an upscaled PS2 game, (ie: God of War collection)

"...The Forgotten Sands will only remind you that they are better games."

wow, what a closing comment and basically i was just looking forward to the combat cause the previous one had good flow but it didnt have that sense of difficulty.

Guess i could just look forward to hopefully a demo release, if it happens

No surprise this was a disappointing release. Here's hoping they return to the "Prince of Persia" reboot storyline for the inevitable release next year.

Agreed. Hopefully the 2008 prince has better combat. That was my major nitpick about the game. Otherwise, it will be awesome. I just loved the platforming. I'm just sad that I might just pass on this game. I haven't missed out on a PoP game since the SoT. :(

I am still going to get it, i have always loved prince of persia games. My least favorite one was the 2008 one. O, and Arc Angel Splinter Cell was terrible ( my opinion, big fan of the originals as well )

Sounds like the part that I care about (platforming) is good to go so I will pick this up and give it a try. I am really glad its a stand alone and not just a movie game since making a game about a movie about a game creates a time paradox the world is just not ready for.

and.. wow, the movements are stiff.. this is just what cannot happen in a prince of persia game, that has always been about the animations looking like real people's
