Or maybe it's your DRM?

Considering their ratio of Console games to PC games, I doubt their DRM has anything to do with this.

Not talking of just reduced sales but the money that went into DRM also.

Of course it did. It cost money to buy/develop/maintain that useless DRM. So they did indeed LOSE money on it. They also lost sales.

How much is debatable but their investment in that B.S was no investment at all. They could have just burned their money and got better results. I'm sure they lost/spent more than a million due to it, at least.

Maybe nothing was the wrong word for me to use but I HIGHLY doubt it had any kind of material effect on their profits.

You might sell more games if you don't use ridiculous DRM schemes.

"Lastly, the upcoming launches of new consoles, including Natal and Sony Move, should enable us to capitalize on the technology investments that we have undertaken in recent years and re-energize the casual games segment."

New consoles? Seriously?
It's called Peripherals, but i guess CEOs can't be arsed to care about proper terminology.

Hope they bounce back this year. It's been an while since I've gotten one of their games as their latest stuff has not been of interest to me but I still love them as a company & hope to see them succeed.

Good. All that money wasted on crazy DRM methods and they're still bleeding money.

Sales up, profits down. That only means one thing: Shitty management. Time to trim the fat, Ubisoft.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't this been happening to Ubisoft for about 3 years now? It seems like every year they pump out some incredibly high sellers, yet still manage to lose gobs of money.

Kind of leads credence to an article from a while ago that mentioned development costs were increasing faster than the actual customer base.

There's definitely something that needs fixed in the ranks of Ubisoft.

No, not all $76.2 million, but you can bet your ass that it still lost them money.

well, either the DRM caused it, or pirates caused it?

Or ubisoft produces and excess amount of shovelware?

either way, having losses and several best sellers shows that someone is screwing something up.

Because the SAME THING HAPPENED TO EA!!! They started diss-ing PC gamers and started implementing mega DRM/online activations on everything even remotely PC related, and lost even more money! Then the CEO started talking all sweet to PC gamers and there was magically no more online activations being required for PC games made by EA.

"higher-than-expected sales of both Red Steel 2 and Avatar. "

wait, higher then expected? unless my eye's are playing me for a fool or god is playing some trick on me, then that means that Red Steel 2 sold more then 500,000 unit's seeing as how they cut their shipment's down by half of 1 million. well I'm glad to hear that a 3rd party Wii game sold very well! also avatar sold well on the Wii?! huh, i never played the game. is it a good game?

Wow.

Just Dance has been on the top of the charts for ages now, and Assassin's Creed 2 was a HUGE success from everything I've seen, yet they still lost money?

That seems really weird. I don't know if they really have any blockbuster games coming out this year, so I don't know how they actually plan to make any profit. :\

To be able to negate those cash cows, i guess they had to have a whole lot of games that couldn't sell.

Well that explains the "going green" announcement to stop producing manuals. It was always about saving money... (although the savings from such a move is a relative drop in the bucket).
