Aero the Acro-Bat rated by OFLC

Sunsoft's entry in the 16-bit mascot wars may be its next Virtual Console game. The OFLC has rated Aero the Acro-Bat for release on Wii, published by Nintendo (as all Virtual Console games are). The game was originally released on SNES and Genesis, and spawned both a sequel and a spinoff, Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel.

Aero the Acro-Bat, as you may expect, stars an anthropomorphic bat who is also a circus performer. He uses a diagonal dash move to navigate platforms and defeat clowns.

According to the OFLC, Sunsoft also has Ufouria in the wings for Virtual Console. In addition, the company has announced that it plans to release games from the Telenet catalog.

I don't Day One (omg it's a verb now) many VC games anymore... but I will for this one. I *heart* Aero.

This game... ha. I need to actually beat it to find out who worked the sound! The composer for both installments of this title is incredibly talented.

Fox Productions is the only info I can find online for it -- and they also worked on the SNES version of Side Pocket which I HIGHLY recommend giving a listen. It's so ridiculous~

I had this game back in the SNES era... It was pretty good, but pretty hard too. I remember I was able to finish it because I made it to the last world with 20 lives or so. If you used the level skip cheat you would get there with three lives, and IIRC that would make it impossible to beat.
