Mass Effect 2 is already outstripping the original in terms of DLC, and it looks like the downloadable bounty will be getting even more interesting in the future. In a recent interview with VideoGamer, BioWare's Casey Hudson made it known that upcoming DLC will link the stories of Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3. "We'll start to have packs that'll tell the story between Mass Effect 2 and 3," said Hudson, adding that it will be "quite a few months" before BioWare is ready to start talking about Mass Effect 3.
We're all for more Mass Effect 2, especially DLC that extends the story. Honestly, though, how can BioWare top the fact that Saren is actually Commander Shepard's father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate?

I've found it hard to do a renegade playthrough as well, aside from a few badass moments, the only douchey thing I could force myself to do was punch the reporter (for the second time).

I've had to hold off on ME2 DLC. Really want it but might have to wait on deals or something. Finally getting Red Dead so sorry BioWare, I will get back to you eventually!

Rockstar thanks you!
Also, I have to agree with this. It's kind of stupid anyways, you have to get DLC to get the full story. Oh well, whatever. It's optional, so I shouldn't complain.

it's not at all like you need the DLC to complete the story. Neither Zaeed nor Kasumi even have actual interactive dialog on the Normandy, the Hammerhead DLC can barely be said to have anything resembling a story, and the rest of the dlc has just been armor and weapons. That isn't to say it doesn't add to the games story, but its hardly like a hugely important part of the game is being withheld until you pay for it

the thing about hammer head is you will need it for the Overlord DLC... its just as I have been saying... it comes with 5-6 missions at start then they will add onto it adding exploring maps and such.

Didn't they say something similar about game linking dlc for me1? Not saying that the dlc that they've delivered so far for me2 wasn't good, far from it, it's been great. But I'm adopting a wait and see approach before falling into a rabid fanboy frenzy...for once.

no... because they will be linking it eventually... with all things it takes time, maybe it will be after the linking 2, and 3 one?, anyways if they need to I guess a book can suffice?

You know, I really wouldn't mind DLC (for any game) if it were free.
What bothers me is that most of the time they charge you for stuff that really should have been in the game (on the disc) to begin with.
That said, yes, I bought Episodes From Liberty City, and MW2 Stimulus Package, but that's mainly because I had to.
I don't enjoy paying $4 for a gallon of milk, but hey... I need it.
I just don't understand why it is they would charge you for content that's practically necessary to have in order to understand and appreciate a game's whole story.
Shame on you.

What do you define as content that belongs on a disc and content that is allowed to be sold separately as DLC?
I would say content like the Episodes from Liberty City can be sold as standalone, but to charge DLC to unlock multiplayer on RE5 is unacceptable, just my opinion.

If you expect developers to put everything in the base product then how do you expect them to actually release the game in the first place? As soon as the game is complete they start coming up with new ideas and DLC gets developed and released(sometimes before the game is even launched officially) The game would just get caught up in an endless delay schedule just so they can put in new content that they didn't think of before they finished the game.
Then theres the fact that the developers work their ass off on the game and DLC. All those developers don't get no money off the content they spent so much time working themselves to death, if they make it free.

It's more content, therefore they're charging you for it. A lot of it is inconsequential, and when it comes right down to it, you don't honestly NEED to buy DLC to understand ME2's story. I could see if they chopped off the ending of ME2 and then sold it as DLC, but other than that, charging for more is fair game in my opinion.

Maybe you guys misunderstood me. I wasn't necessarily talking about ME2. I think just seeing the acronym DLC sets some sort of anger trigger off in me. Personality fault, call it what you want.
The type of DLC that bothers the shit out of me is horse armor and character T-shirts.
Do you get it now?

Now that's crazy talk! A sequel that picks up where the first one left off? Pure insanity.

What? Your opinions on DLC aside, how the hell does using the future tense invalidate the possibility of dlc being made post release? That doesn't make any sense at all.

Soooooooooo stoked for more Mass Effect 2 DLC. I've picked it all up so far, and it's reallllly helpful and fun to play through. Finishing up my Insanity run, and then casually playing am adept fem-shep. The more of this game I get, the more money I'll hand to Bioware.
