I've always been a massive fan of Tomb Raider, but they definitely need this 'new focus'. Even though I carried on buying it, less and less people were doing so. So this is gonna be quite interesting.

Fantastic interview! I really like the way Mr. Stewart and the Three Pillars approach involve multiple teams and they all lead up to the big game coming... soon, I hope?

Also, Mr. Stewart and the Three Pillars: put it in the Idea Drawer!

Uncharted has basically beat Tomb Raider at its own game, in every way possible, and I say this as a Tomb Raider fan. I think it's smart to reboot the series, I just hope they can pull off something effective that separates the franchise from Uncharted without feeling forced.

I've played TR since 1 on ps1, but TR after the 3rd got weird and I didnt like them anymore. This game has serious potential to bring the series back in a new and unique way. I'm very excited. What I also would love to see is this engine used to remake a top down Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain. That is my #1 most favorite game of all time.

seconded. legacy of kain was one of the greatest series i've ever played. it's a shame that all those crappy TR sequels were green lighted while LoK probably got the shaft.

No Love for Lara... huh.. IMO Legend and Underworld were beautifully crafted games.. and definitely were a great return to form for Lara after the dismal sequels. I loved the story.. game play.. everything. The problem was Underworld came out during an already crowded market of great hits.

I will definitely pick up this new game because Its Tomb Raider but I hope they keep going with the Legend/Underworld type games... They don't really need to separate themselves from Uncharted at all. Uncharted was excellent in it's own right, but Lara is Lara. There is room for both I think. Tomb Raider kinda feels like Indiana Jones and Uncharted I feel is more like National Treasure. Don't ask me to explain that it's just how I compare them.

Long Live Tomb Raider

I still think it's hilarious that the main draw behind these games are that the main character is a female with big boobs and a tiny waist.

Yeah, that's why when Uncharted came along with a similar gameplay formula it failed hard. Them female characters really make or break the game you know!

What? You say Uncharted 1 & 2 both did just fine without having a big breasted woman as the lead? You say the gameplay is what made both games fun?

Blasphemy I say!

I'm not sure we're talking about the same games. The original Tomb Raider was terrible. The controls sucked, the graphics were gross, and the puzzles were made by autistic children.

How dare you attempt to make seem like a good game.

You cannot compare Uncharted with Tomb Raider. Tomb Raider is "Little Ninjas" while Uncharted is "Ninja Assassin".

You get it?

Anyway, all I was saying originally is that the whole series blows cock. Deal with it.

Oh, and by the way, in my defense... wait until one year after this game releases, and tell me how many copies this game sold, and its respective metacritic scores.

I'll be sure to remind you I was right in 365 days.

Note that Amy Henring (of Naughty Dog) came from EA and Edios/Crystal Dynamics: she's had a very active hand in Uncharted and the Legacy of Kain series, she must have known the Tomb Raider folks. :~)
