Wow okay..well I clicked on the ESPN link and listened to Gus Johnson. I really hope they smooth him out because right now he sounds like garbage. He doesn't sound wooden but it seems like he's just phoning it in. If I want to hear commentary like that I'll go hit up a drunk guy watching the game at a bar.

Screaming doesn't make someone a good commentator... Yelling "OOOHHHH MMMYYY GOODDDD HE CAUGHT THE BALL!!!" like a mad man really adds nothing to the moment, i could do that easily, in fact its basically what i do all the time when im sitting in m living room watching it on tv...

However in a video game it might work, but I never had much of a problem with the madden play by play except a bit of the repetitiveness.

Meh. I'm too spoiled by the greatness of "Dan Stevens" and "Peter O'Keefe."

I'm not crazy about the work Gus does for Strikeforce MMA but it's because he's new to the sport but his work for the NCAA tourney and NFL is amazing. It's better than having a humble but not as good as if they had jaworski & tirico.

Agreed. I hate him as an MMA commentator (and really wish they would let Mauro Ranallo take over the broadcasts) but anytime I've heard bits & pieces of him doing other sports, he's pretty good.

I didn't really mind Tom Hammond. Collinsworth, on the other hand, got a little annoying after awhile.

90,000 lines into Madden 11. Any idea how much Madden 10 had, for comparison? Otherwise, that number doesn't get the proper point across (just curious).

Electronic Arts wants to start charging gamers $10-$20 to play online and access additional content if they buy a used copy of one of their games, under the excuse that they need to maintain their servers, and they cant make the money to do that if you buy the game used. The lie here is that there is no extra strain on the servers as there is still only ONE person playing that ONE copy of the game. It is no more of a strain on the servers for a person playing a used copy of a game as an original owner still playing their newly purchased game online. It's still 2 copies of the game with 2 players.

This is a clear example of corporate greed that has the potential to create a domino effect throughout the gaming industry, leading more and more game makers to follow suit. Leaving the customers/gamers to pay more and get less.

TELL EA GAMES THAT YOU WILL BOYCOTT TITLES THAT INCLUDE THIS FEATURE.

they are not charging $20 for online access

your whole theory on how it costs no extra for the server is just silly, if the guy who bought it new plays the game online his information is now on the EA server it takes up space which costs money, if he sells it to someone and they play online their information is now also stored on their server, so how is it the same?

every corporation is greedy, how do you think they became a corporation in the first place?

in closing, thank you for taking a pretty much unrelated topic and spinning it into negativity, something that too many people have to deal with far too often in their every day lives

Am I crazy to expect a Madden game to have commentary by oh I don't know John Madden? Why do they still call it Madden if he is no longer in it?

He was in it a little bit. i.e. when you could have him pick the play, he would say a line or two about the play (sometimes talking over the commentary).

Plus, it has always been Madden and it's his legacy and everyone knows the game as "Madden". Changing the name could cause confusion for those not in the loop but still play games and whatnot.

Dude I also have a unopened bag of Doritos on my end table! However my friends also don't understand that the bag of Doritos is to tie the room together, not for consumption.

Wow, 4 years later they decide commentary is important? In 07 and 08 they had the genearic radio announcer, then they add Cris Colinsworth and Tom Hammond the next 2 years, and now they decide they want to focus on it. Granted it was nice to have Colinsworth, but Hammond had no energy.

EA sucks.

well ive played backbreaker, the demo and have been really dissapointed by it. Madden is finally getting to 2k5s level with presentation and if they just fix the games receiving/passing game the game will be golden to me... plus no more suction tackling please/blocking

I mute the commentary and put on a metal playlist. That won't change this year. Or ever.
