Fable 3 also conquering lands on PC; Collector's Edition detailed

This morning, Microsoft officially announced that Fable 3 will be heading to the PC as well as the Xbox 360, confirming news derived from last week's accidental box art reveal. Standard and "Limited Collector's" editions were also detailed -- for $59.99 and $79.99, respectively -- with the latter coming with several in-game and physical items (seen in full after the break).

Since the Windows iteration will only be available in the standard version at retail (for just $50, might we add) and downloadable "exclusively" through Games for Windows Live Marketplace, all PC players will be able to access the extra quest, region, and dog breed that come with the Xbox 360's collector's edition. Microsoft says the Fable 3 limited collector's edition will include:

"A new quest: Uncover the mystery of the haunted forests of Silverpines and earn the legendary sword, Wolfsbane, deadly against wolves and balverines.
Exclusive location: Unlock a new region, ideal for settling down with a family and discovering new treasures.
Fable 3 playing cards: Created by Lionhead, these cards depict every type of character in "Fable III," including Heroes, royals, rebels and villains from across Albion and beyond.
Guild Seal Coin: The coin features a Good side (blue) and Evil side (red) to assist players in making critical decisions that will impact the fate of the world forever.
A new dog breed: Renowned for its loyalty, the Boxer is a brave canine companion worthy of greatest Queens and Kings.
One unique outfit: Unearth one male and female outfit from the mysterious, faraway land of Aurora, a new destination in your Fable 3 adventures."

Uhh, aren't we missing something here? Like... Fable 2 on PC?

May happen, Halo 2 took almost 3 years to come to the PC after the Xbox release, it came out right when Halo 3 hit the 360.

I don't think microsoft is being stupid at all. From a business stand point it would really hurt their profit if all the x360 exclusives were released on the pc because, really, pc piracy is freaking huge!

Color me surprised. MS would do anything to keep shooting the PC in the foot to promote their own console. This is good news.

Maybe we can see Gears 2 and 3 for the PC also?

I never understood why Microsoft wouldn't want to release their games on the 360 AND the PC. Wouldn't you want to have it out there for a bigger audience? And having Fable 3 come out without it's predecessor seems very odd...

if Gears 2 and Fable 2 had came to PC last year....I would NOT have gotten a 360....at least not until the price dropped to the point where it would be pointless not to own one

There you go Chris D, they don't want to hurt sales of their 360. I have a 360 but I never use it and would still prefer to get the games on the PC instead.

I'd be happy with a late port rather than never. At least port it later to the PC when the threat of cannabalizing 360 sales is lower. Besides, there's plenty of 360 owners who don't game on PC who will still buy your game on the 360.

MS, your being stupid. You virtually control all of PC gaming as well as owning a chunk of the console market and yet you shat all over the former. You want Apple or someone else to take over?

they wouldn't have hurt 360 sales that much....I'm sure I'm in the minority of people that would prefer a game on PC over the 360.....but now that I have a 360 I will get the games on there instead of PC.....well some of them....I own BFBC2 on PS3 and will soon get it on PC as well...wouldn't get it on 360 because I'm not sure I will renew my gold membership after it expires....unless I find a deal like I did this time...

You want someone to blame for Alan Wake, Gears and all that not being on PC? You blame the people, I'm not sure who they fanboy for, but you blame the people who clamor all the time about how '360 has no exclusives! Why should I buy one?! Mass Effect's not exclusive, MS exclusive doesn't count' so Microsoft is obviously like 'ok well we need SOMETHING to sell the 360 to people with PCs or PS3s. We gotta make some things exclusive.' And thus, the lack of Alan Wake and all that.

I love my ps3, my 360, and my pc, but shit like that is annoying because claiming how 360 has no exclusives is just driving decisions like this.

Piracy on PC is pretty big but used games market is pretty small . I'm sure the balance keep it worthwhile for the publishers to not give up on PC.

I'd take Alan Wake on PC over any of those games listed so far (including Fable 3).

Also exclusively on Games for Windows live? Euck....I might just pass on this.

Cool, i am glad to see the PC getting some love. and i cannot wait for this game ( i was probley the select few who liked this game over the first ). instant collector's edition buy.

So how definite is it that Natal will work on a PC? you guys touched on it a bit on the last podcast, but if it does, that seems like a HUGE selling point.

At this point there is no reason not to do Windows versions of games. Console games sell better, and PC sales usually go to a different audience entirely. Beyond that, all the Xbox dev tools easily compile for both Windows and Xbox. It's kind of a win win, not so much because PC sell so amazingly well... but because it is comparatively trivia at this point to do a Windows version. It's more sales without massive cost and extra dev time.

Still haven't finished Fable 2. Damn my need to purchase new games when I haven't finished the previous ones.

LOL i have the same problem * glares at Perfect Dark Zero that is barely visible with all the dust on the case *. purchased 2006 last played 2006 date 2010.

Here's the thing, I'll believe the contents of the SE pack when I see it. For Fable II there was supposed to be the little toy and the tarot cards and they yanked items one at a time until you got basically an extra DVD with the standard making of and some DLC. So, I'll believe the cards and stuff when I see it.

That happened to me too. I ordered the Fable 2 LE on a estore. So when it arrived I was like WHERE IS MY HOBBE FIGURINE!! They didnt even send an email that the content has changed. Until I see this in real I might buy it

And then at the end Microsoft just gave the LCE DLC to anybody who asked for it.

That DLC thing killed me. I was one of the people with the bad code and I JUST missed the deadline (like by a week) for the "email and get it right away." So it took a month with MS Xbox support to get it sorted out and an angry email to Major Nelson. I have to say, I may find him a bit annoying but he goes out of his way to help the community. I'll give him that much.

Pretty cool, i may give this a second chance, as the fable series never did it for me. Don't mind about the second one never coming, i appreciate the third being an option.

Alan Wake needs to come and play too, and I'll be very happy with microsoft's pc division.

I'm happy with later rather than never. I already have an EPIC backlog to go through anyways of PC games. Mass Effect 2 still hasn't touched my HDD yet and I bought it on launch day. : )

What backlog can you possibly have that keeps ME2 in limbo for more that four months?

well I got mass effect 2 a few months ago, and I've only played it to the point of the first cidadel visit. Just distracted by other games.

It took me a couple months to get into ME2 also. I still haven't finished it. I kept getting distracted by...

...Modern Warfare 2.

I am going to have a 'No Country for Old Men' playthrough, where all decisions are made by a coin toss.

You should create a character with Prince Valiant hair and a silenced blunderbuss while you're at it.

excuse me but what happened with FABLE 2???????? I HATE to start a saga on a different chapter, is it just me or everybody else feels the same?

The real question here, do you use Fable cards or New Vegas cards.

Never played Fable before, but im definately keeping an eye on the PC version!

i wonder how long it will be take before the same thing that happened to the fable 2 LE happens to the fable 3 version, i will however pre order the LE just incase lionhead doesnt screw the pooch

Forgive my ignorance, but was Fable available on PC and if it was how were the controls? I personally prefer m/KB input though I had no problems with the controller for F2.

And just like with Fable 2, we are going to be not get most of the items shown.... 8(...
