One of Sony's major E3 titles has been revealed slightly ahead of time. Sony and Guerrilla Games are delivering on Jack Tretton's impromptu promise: Killzone 3 is real, and you'll be able to see it for yourself in the July issue of GamePro, on shelves June 1. A subscriber spilled the Helghan beans on the GameSpot forums, also revealing that the game is playable in 3-D, with the effect requiring the use of glasses (oh, and a 3-D-capable television). GamePro has confirmed the cover story to Joystiq.
That means that Killzone 3 is going to be a showpiece for Sony's 3-D technology, and therefore we should probably expect to hear a lot about it at the company's E3 presentation.

@Chris D
I can see it now.
"With Final Fantasy 14 not far off, we thought we'd take the time to talk about how the series has grown on our system... *few minutes later* and now we're proud to introduce to you this never before seen trailer of the latest from Square Enix and Final Fantasy!"
*trailer starts*
But what's this? Can this really be FF XIV? No, wait, it's XV! The crowd goes wild!
And it's... a faux MMO wrapped inside of a social network. Holy .hack Batman! The crowd is suddenly crying.

uhhhh if they are giving KZ2 a 3D update in the summer, then why wouldn't KZ3 be 3D by default?
at anyrate zOOOOOOOOMG!!!! KZ3!!
and since this was suppose to be out June 1st anyways then it doesn't count as a leak....but with Sony letting this go AND LBP2 before E3 you have to wonder what they have up their sleeves....

what were your issues with it?
a lot of people wanted the controls tightened up, and a main character that had more personality...

The story wasn't bad at all...a LOT better than any recent CoD game that s for sure....if anything they just need a better main character....Sev just had no personality

It was still an awesome game, but if they had made the controls tighter, I probably would have played a lot more of the multiplayer. To date, I think it's the most visually impressive title to be released on any platform, including PC. The deferred shading was done amazingly well and gives the game the look of polished and pre-rendered CGI instead of what we expect from in-game.

I liked Sev, I think having some IN YOUR FACE personality would ruin a character who just seems like an actual soldier, he wasn't silent but he didn't have some stupid personal quest either. The support cast had personality and I hated them for it, except for maybe Garza, and the guy with the shotgun would be alright if he was funnier.

i don't think sev was the problem. it was that sonuvabitch rico. he was SO annoying. and the one truly likeable character got killed... by rico. so yeah, f*ck rico.
and i don't think the lack of color was a bad thing. maybe in some other games, but not in this one. the lack of color gave the environment a creepy feeling. if it was bright and colorful, the entire tone of the game would have been ruined.

The dialogue! i for one got so tired of the people cussing every 5 seconds. maybe it's to get kids to think it's cool or something but it got old so fast. They didn't sound genuinely scared either. Reminded me of a 14 year old who's dad and mom got a divorce so he's living with his dad and his dad decides cussing it ok at dad's house. that's all the kids gonna want to do and he will think it's totally awesome.

Haha, an FPS with a main character that has personality, thats a funny joke :D
Who's that then? Gordon Freeman? Master Chief? Duke Nukem?
Actually, I know someone, Cortez from Timesplitters :D In fact, you can't complain, he had multiple personalities, in different time periods, thats enough personality for everyone, yay!

McWilly, there was more than one assault rifle. That right there tells me you didn't play it much. If at all. I honestly don't see how the levels were generic and levels in games like Halo, Call of Duty, and BFBC2 aren't. I don't see much of a difference. Also, they later released a patch to weaken the rocket launchers and lower their health I'm pretty sure, people stopped doing that after the first week.

The story was A LOT better than CoD4? That's a bit of a stretch. CoD4 suprised with the strength of its (short) story (largely with its characters). Killzone's is nothing more than any other serviceable war story like the more recent CoDs, Gears or Halo. The premise is mildly interesting except they watered it down to a skin of your basic WWII fare. The characters are all the same dumb marines Gears gets flak for, except they have less personality, worse dialogue, were more generic and looked more bland.

@Traceur I meant submachine gun. I didn't say Halo/CoD/BFBC weren't generic whereas Killzone 2 was so I don't know why your making out that I did and also I played the game solid for 3 weeks from day one and tried to like it but the rocket/boost pill spamming didn't go away. Wether they nerfed it or not didn't seem to effect the 31/32 people in every game from doing it so I know for a fact they didn't "stop doing it after the first week" : /
