Yuck. This was about 2 albums after the band (and the genre) peaked. Pass.

A few of the songs on GSTK are some of my favorites. I don't think it was the best overall album, but still awesome. Reinventing the Steel was really really good too.

Not something I'm personally interested in but I know there were a lot of people waiting for Pantera that are going to be quite happy about this announcement.

baby sea tuna - you are wrong my friend. This is Pantera's best album from beginning to album (just a smidge better than Far Beyond Driven). Chalk full of some of the heaviest riffs I've ever heard. I really don't know anyone who would be able to pull off the vocals for most of this album (the heavy stuff at least), but in terms of guitar and drums, this is a win. Good stuff.

Oh, and Dimebag rocks harder than any guitarist out today.

Nope. I'm dating myself here, but I saw these guys 3 times throughout their career, the first time when I was about 16, and they basically peaked between Vulgar Display of Power and Far Beyond Driven. It was when they found their niche and before Phil Anselmo became a hardcore junkie and legally died (twice, if I'm not mistaken.)

By the time this album came out, I was so disinterested in them that someone had to convince me to go to the show with the prospect of a free ticket. The upside was that their popularity had waned to the point where the show was at a MUCH smaller venue than I'd seen them at before so at least I got to dive off the stage a couple of times, which was something I never could have done when they were playing stadium shows.

I'm not gonna lie - I'm a big Pantera fan, but the one time I saw them live (on one of the many Black Sabbath reunion tours), I was really disappointed. Didn't love the song choices, and couldn't believe there was another drummer (I could see) behind the stage, helping Vinnie Paul out during some songs.

Anywho, I should have originally made it clear that I realize TGST is far from the most popular choice in terms of Pantera albums. I've just always been a sucker for the heavier, more raw stuff. To each their own, I s'pose!

Gotta go with Baby Tuna here. This is a disappointment to me. Vulgar or Driven would have been the preferred choices for me. Vulgar especially, as it stands as one of the best metal albums of all time. Floods is a great track though.

I'm fully aware he's dead, Enosoma. And I stand by what I originally said - the stuff he made with Pantera still rocks harder than most anything put out today.

Correction corrected.

Ya I'm a little disappointed that song isn't in there but I can also understand why lyrically speaking. I haven't bought anything for RB for quite some time now but this is the album that really got me into Pantera and will crack my wallet open for RB.

I'd love to see Vulgar Display of Power up there. But I haven't played Rock Band in ages anyway, just nice to see some Pantera represented.

He's up there in the metal pantheon rocking out with Dio, Randy Rhoads, Cliff Burton, and The Rev (say what you want about A7X, he was a decent drummer. Vinnie Paul even gave him props).

This makes me wish I had Rock Band rather than Guitar Hero. Mind you, I personally think Vulgar Display of Power was the best Pantera album ever, it's still awesome to see GST as a playable thing.

Seems a really odd choice, as even non-Pantera fans would recognize songs like "Walk" or "I'm Broken"

Just to throw my 2 cents in on this debate. Far Beyond Driven > Vulgar Display > Cowboys from Hell.

I always thought this was the only band I ever knew who got better with every album (for the first 3 anyways).

I thought Reinventing the Steel was REALLY good. Great Southern Trendkill I find wasn't as good as the others at first, but it grew on me quite a bit quickly. But Reinventing the Steel blew me away from day one.

I agree with most others, this album is a strange choice for the first Pantera on Rock Band, I would much rather have Cowboys From Hell, Vulgar Display of Power or Far Beyond Driven, this album was when I knew the band had lost it, I remember selling the CD back to the store pretty quickly on this one. I won't be picking this up but would have picked up any of the above-mentioned albums.

Sure would like me some Vulgar Display of Power and some Cemetary Gates. But Trendkill should still be plenty of fun to play.

Still, can we PLEASE get "Walk" one of these days?!?

I was about to say that this album is terrible, but then I realized I was confusing it with Cowboys From Hell, which was awful. I forgot this album even existed once I graduated high school and left my angst behind.

I too wish & hope for Vulgar & Far Beyond well every pantera song ever!. BUT i see this as PanterA being PanterA. Trendkill was their statement album. Staement being "we dont give a shit what you want heres metal up your ass". Trendkill is the best album to come out first in terms of what pantera stood for.
