Excerpt from Alan Wake's technological thriller, It Came from Amazon:
I sat there staring at the screen, unable to believe my aching eyes. Had I had too much to drink, or was this real? The Amazon checkout cart read $49.99, and it was definitely Alan Wake sitting in the basket. That alone didn't really frighten me. What tipped me over the edge was the $10 bonus credit on a future video game purchase.
The site had similar deals on other games. Super Street Fighter IV for $30, God of War 3 for $45, Splinter Cell Conviction ... again $45. All of these and more, like Super Mario Galaxy 2, with at least $10 bonus credit. Was that even possible? Or, had the Darkness managed to infiltrate my computer?
Unsure of itself, my shaking index finger finally clicked true. The purchase was made -- with free Super Saver shipping -- and now all I could do was wait, wait and contemplate how to spend that $10 credit. Red Dead Redemption was supposed to be pretty good.

Man, it would have been nice to get that deal.. but I'm also glad I picked it up already.
Alan Wake is a must buy. I'm about half way through it and enjoying it very much. (in fact, my g/f won't let me play unless she's sitting next to me to see it play out. lol)
Great game.

I am hoping my girlfriend has the same reaction to it. We love horror/suspense movies and I hope she enjoys this game.

I just told myself I would be spending less money. SMG2 was supposed to be my last purchase for a long, long time. Why must you tempt me Alan Wake, why?

And just a little extra props for Amazon... I had ordered Alan Wake back when it was still listed at $59.99. Apart from getting the $10 bonus credit, they unexpectedly emailed me on Wednesday to inform me they were crediting an additional $10 back to my card since the price had come down to $49.99.

$10 off... pass. I'll wait till I see it for $20 used, you know MS is gonna rip off the consumers with the DLC, expect 1200 to for each episode.

Well you have to keep in mind that one of the episodes comes free when you buy it new. When you buy it used you'll have to buy that DLC yourself.

I just got my pre-order copy from Amazon today. They already credited my account the 10 bucks extra I spent and I used the 10 dollar bonus credit toward Super Mario Galaxy 2 which netted me a 20 dollar credit toward my next game purchase. I guess I should have known this but it's Amazon for game purchases from here on out for me.

I did sort of the same thing - ten dollar credit for NSMBW, used it to get Super Mario Galaxy 2 (twenty dollar credit), and used the twenty dollar credit to pre-order Gears of War 3 (which also has a twenty dollar credit). Total Amazon credit = $50.00
Pretty nice.

If you work for a store like Target or Best Buy that sells Microsoft products you can get Alan Wake for $19.90 from Microsoft Expertzone. They have to verify you work there, and once you do you just take quizzes to get points and use points on discounted merchandise. They have an Elite console for 70 off, a list of games mostly 20 and less, controllers and accessories. They finally added the 250G hard drive but that went out pretty fast. Also some PC accessories and Zunes discounted. I bought a few 4000 point cards recently for 24, half off, and the 12 month gold card is half off as well. Best website I've ever signed up for, although once you get around to getting all you want, they are pretty slow about adding new content.

I've been pondering this deal now for days. Finally bit the bullet. Used a free trial of Amazon Prime while I was at it. Of course this had to be a holiday weekend so that it's still delayed by half a week with "2 day" shipping.
I figure this essentially makes things $40 for Alan Wake and another $40 for Persona 3 Portable.

Unless you're in California, that $10 will expire sometime.

That's good, except last time I tried to order something with super saver shipping, a week later it still hadn't shipped. The shipping is really slow.

Oh my god! I need your help guys:
Red Dead Redemption is the game I'm gonna get second and use the $10 for (I'm so looking forward to that. maybe next month), so what game do you think I should get first? Splinter Cell or Alan Wake? I've been looking forward to all 3 games since forever and I can't decide which one should I get first. (and the one I don't choose will be the third game). Oh damn it, this is so hard.

Having played all three, I would rank them as such:
1)Alan Wake
2)RDR
3)Conviction
As a huge splinter cell fan from the beginning, I was really dissapointed with Conviction. Its a decent action game, but its just not splinter cell. Play Wake first.

Amazon Prime for game purchases= the only way to buy video games. Period.
Even if you want the game the day it comes out- Day of release shipping for free with Prime. Almost always a $10 credit towards another game, and prices are lower than any Gamestop I've been to.
