Wait, I thought they made Super SFIV to fix the balancing in the first place.

It looks like most of the fixes have to do with new characters / content. Besides the list is a lot shorter than I thought it would be before the jump.

Most of these fixes involve some of the 10 new characters or new ultras. So it makes sense there would be some bugs to work out with the new stuff.

Hahahaha, amazing. I've never seen this vid before, so funny.

But for patching... have you tried Balanced Brawl? There was an article about it on Joystiq recently. I downloaded it and tried it out, it's completely wonderful. Feels just like Brawl, only Captain Falcon is useful now! ...and so are a bunch of other people who are less manly. It's at www.balancedbrawl.net

Yeah, i know of Brawl + and -

Its not tournament standard.

Nintendo has this thing for not wanting Smash to be competitive and it was designed that way.

MLG still picked it up for this season though, it has a HUGE tournament scene and couldnt be ignored.

Still fun to play though, for anyone that thinks they are good at smash, go to

www.allisbrawl.com Find someone in your region and get wrecked ; )

It's generally agreed that Ken's not actually very good. If you're taking an absurd amount of damage from him, just learn to block those EX Dragon Punches. Bison's Ultra II, on the other hand, does not need to be made any better.

I agree. Ken was annoying enough in SFIV, now he's even more so. And he can dragon punch through almost anything. And they totally nerfed Honda's splash. And what happened to the photo / video gallery?

@heypaul: that's true. I still main Ken though. I hate whiny people that complain about that. If you block the ex dragon punch you can make any noob Ken player your bitch. I wouldn't go as far to say that he is not very good though.

Too bad you still can't use search filters on the replay channel. I wish they would at least add the player's ID next to the character portrait so I can see who is in the replay.

Nope, unfortunately you haven't. Maybe after they release it on arcades we may get a port, but I really doubt it. Which is weird because they said that they were pleased with the PC sales of SF4.

"Ibuki's invincibility window on wake up -- under certain circumstances -- was too long, this will be fixed."

Wait, what? I have a hell of a time on wake up with Ibuki. All her wake-up moves have such long startups that someone can just keep punishing you as you get up, I'm surprised they're going the opposite way with her on wake-up.

I always felt ibuki was a bit too strong from the beginning. She has a lot of high and low options with a ton of reset options. In addition, she has projectiles for zoning and fast movement on the ground. She's a real solid character with very few weaknesses so weakening her through her wake up sounds like a good plan.

Absolutely not the case. Her weakness is taking damage like it's going out of style; she doesn't need to be more vulnerable.

Of course, this change is probably minor enough that we won't notice it that much.

She has lots of good options Morisato, but her defense is super low. She takes so much damage she makes Akuma look like a tank. And, as mentioned above, she's horrible on wake-up.

Her stam and stun ranking is same as c.viper who lack the quick combo and reset confusion that ibuki has. She doesn't take more damage than akuma. Akuma only has 850/850

Haha, they make you rebuy the game for balance fixes because it can't be done with a patch, then patch in balance fixes on the new one for free. WTF, Capcom sucks so bad this generation.

Yeah man, SSFIV was just a balance fix. Having 25 characters instead of 35, and a substandard online mode was totally unbalanced. Those glaring, minor faults could have been dealt with with DLC without completely fracturing the online community.

Totally.

Um, they did free balancing patches to the first one, too. Besides, there's a *slight* difference between changing a few variables (like timing of wake-up animation invincibility) and adding new characters/move sets/etc.

They made El Fuerte substantially better, especially with Ultra Spark, which can be used to punish anything from jumps to whiffed medium/heavy normals on reaction.

He also got buffs to specific moves, and more health. They even get his Run-Stop-Fierce infinite loop in.

It's never been a better time to be a Fuerte player.

All but the second issue are fixes related to the new version (and that second one probably is, too). And the "re-balancing" they did for Super was specifically done to make the original characters a bit better since all of the new characters are pretty brilliant. So of course there has to be a bit of work afterwards.

And I am impressed how people can be critical of the series creating too many spin-offs in the past. How many versions of SF3 were there? Like, 2. And do a bit of reading besides just Joystiq. SSF4 producer Yoshinori Ono said, "So, instead of just being a minor updated version, this SSFIV will be a game with major additional content and changes," in response to concerns about multiple upgrades similar to SF2. He also said, "We might need some days off before SFV... [but] ten years might be too long." (EGM. Issue 238.0 pg50-52)

how about fixing Hakan? He's too weak as it is and his grabs take way too long. Also his oil was originally supposed to make him unthrowable. They need to put that in there.
