The last shreds of the former developer known as Midway will soon be dissolved into the ether, as a Delaware court has agreed to the terms of the company's plan to repay a portion of its debts. Businessweek reports that after liquidating all its assets, Midway will distribute about $25.5 million to unsecured noteholders, which is about 16.5 percent of what those noteholders are owed. Unsecured creditors will get $9.2 million, which is around one-quarter of what Midway owes them.
So, now that all of its assets either belong to Warner Bros. or are being hocked to repay lenders, we think we've probably seen the last of the once great Midway empire. Unless one of you guys feels like giving them like, $600 million. C'mon, there's gotta be at least one obscenely rich, completely obsessed Mortal Kombat fan out there.

Actually no this does not mean that. If Mortal Kombat is owned by Warner Bros. then that means that they are free to do w/e they want with it. Last I checked they also purchased Rocksteady Studios, same people who brought use Batman: Arkham Asylum and I believe Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay/Assault on Dark Athena.

...And to the talented, hardworking programmers, artists and designers that made it all possible, a wink and a kick in the teeth - negative 1000% of what was owed to them.

I'm down for Capcom acquiring the MK license. Think about it: we'd get an amazing 2D MK game that we've been wanting since MK Gold came out, and we would /finally/ get the Mortal Kombat vs. Street Fighter game we've always wanted.

The important question is who owns Gauntlet now?

I hope this doesn't get posted twice but:
Anyway: I'm sure the programmers, artists, and designers got paid when the project was completed, and probably aren't owed anything besides maybe royalties. Which if the games were doing well enough to be owed royalties, well, they probably wouldn't be liquidated.
But honestly i'm surprised. It was a huge company with some major past titles. Goodbye MIdway

I wish WB had outright purchased Midway. Would've cost them more since they would've been able to pay off Midway's debts, but I'll miss the name and logo. Maybe something will happen like how the Acclaim name and logo are being used by a new company.

Poor Midway. To this day they ring in my childhood very clearly, with the one and only sports game I ever liked.
