From what we've heard from folks who got in on the game's multiplayer beta, Bizarre Creations' Blur has some surprisingly potent addictive properties. That's why we find this Steam deal so unashamedly sinister: If you pre-order the PC version of the racing title on the popular digital distribution platform, you'll get an equally (if not more) addictive game for free: Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved.
Blur goes on sale this Tuesday, so if you're hoping to grab Bizarre's twin-stick time sink at no charge, you should probably pre-order the game ASAP.

It was fun for what it was- a free mutliplayer beta.
I can't imagine purchasing it.

I wouldn't even want it if it was free. I deleted the beta off my HD within minutes. That game made me go apeshit every time I was leading and then random stupid shit would happen to put me at the back of the pack. To me it felt super random and I would just end up pressing the guide button + Y as quickly as I could.

Actually, I love the Mario Kart series. Well, really I've played them up to the N64 version, since I never played the Gamecube version and I don't own a Wii. But Mario Kart 64 was very well balanced, and it still came down to skill more then this garbage did. I really can not see why people compare this to Mario Kart, apart from the powerups.

I'm going to buy it, but probably on the 360 or my PS3. My PC needs replacing soon and I already have Geometry Wars on steam.

I thought it was fine. Other than the lack of online scoreboards it's exactly the same as the 360 version. It even works perfectly with a gamepad.

I don't see how having no leaderboards or achievements makes a game terrible.

Having played about a dozen races in the MP demo, I can say with confidence that I haven't been this excited about a racing game since Mario Kart 64 was playing on a TV screen at my local Sears.
I will be buying this for my 360.

Thanks to today's generation, people think a game without achievements and leaderboards are crap. Sigh.....

Play Geometry Wars 2, then go back and play Retro Evolved. It makes Retro Evolved feel like the colors are super-unsaturated. Not to mention the incredibly slow starts to the game if you have to retry. Still something for nothing so can't really complain, especially if you don't have a 360.

Geometry Wars needs leaderboards, how else are you gonna prove how good you are to your friends and family?
I suppose having no leaderboards makes it even more old school >_>
