Metal Torrent looks like a ton of fun if you're into bullet hell shooters. Here's a video of Dan Owson playing it at the Media Summit earlier this year:

The first part is how it's played, the second part (around the 3:20 mark) is him actually playing. Looks pretty cool for only $5.

Wow, another no-VC release week, why does that not surprise me? Perhaps it's time we official declare the Virtual Console as dead. In fact, it's as dead as a this parrot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=npjOSLCR2hE

So dead that Kirby Super Star came out last week? Why is it that Virtual Console whiners can't seem to pay attention?

Don't get me wrong, every once in a while, a game will come out on the Virtual Console. However, Nintendo has been, oh, I don't know, lazy on its release schedule. Like I said earlier, I've been able to play my (original cart) copy of KSS on the Homebrew Channel for well over a year. KSS has been on ESRB's chart for a long time as well (just like Earthbound). But did EB ever get released? Nope. I've been able to play that as well (also own the original cart for that). Earthbound, I can see not being released, but Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VI? Why they haven't been released is beyond me. Sure Square Enix released Final Fantasy IV, V and VI on the GBA almost three years ago; and let's be honest, those ports weren't all that great (especially the sound *blech*!). Isn't it about time they release them on the Virtual Console? I think Nintendo is preventing SE from releasing those on the VC just like they did when Capcom wanted to release Bionic Command, but we all know how THAT ended up. This is exactly why hackers win where Nintendo falters; the Virtual Console vs. Homebrew.

Stop that. "This is exactly why hackers win where Nintendo falters"? Your "argument" fails to recognize that the process of bringing a game to the VC involves a LOT more that simply porting it to the Wii and slapping on a price tag.

Each game has to go through an arduous process of sorting out various potential legal issues, paying the companies that own the rights to the games in order to gain licenses, making deals to sort out how the money gained is distributed, etc. Things get even MORE complicated once you factor in companies that no longer exist, rights to games that have been bought and sold repeatedly, among other difficulties involved in the process of bringing a game to the VC.

Now, don't get me wrong: I'd love to see FFVI (and especially Earthbound) on VC; however, the process is very complicated, and should not be complained about with so much disregard.

TL;DR - Making games is hard.
