It took me only a couple hours to get bored of GTA IV, but RDR is still going strong at over 15 hours. Not having that damn cell phone ringing every couple minutes makes a huge difference.

I wasn't considering getting this game at all, but the reception it is getting has struck a chord with me. Especially the words from the number of people who like me, found GTA4 boring, yet are loving RDR.

Red Dead Redemption just feels like a much more 'complete' world than GTA IV.

One example: In the GTA series it was very common to see people or vehicles 'fade in' a block or so away from you. I have only once seen this happen in Red Dead (and I was perched high up on a hill, able to see for miles in every direction). You can see horses approaching from a great distance, or chase them over a ridge after they disappear from view. This goes a long way toward making the world feel real, and not something that's being constructed by the game-gods when you're looking the other direction.

There are many more examples of why this game works better than GTA, but this comment would turn into a multi-page rave. I love this game. Everyone I know who has played it loves this game.

You will recognize a whole lot of games elements from the GTA series, but they have either been tweaked for the better, or they just feel much more natural in the western setting than they ever did in the modern city setting.

To be fair, how much more does GTA4 have to render than RDR? ALOT MORE!!

FF Versus XIII, FF Agito XIII, MGS Rising, MGS Peace Walker, MH3 PSP, Pokemon Black & White, Metroid Other M, The Last Story, FFXIV, Xenoblade, El Shaddai, DQIX, DQX, Maijin The Fallen Realm, Enslaved, FF Light Warriors, Inazuma Eleven and Portal 2.

Even though I don't want them I must also list Halo Reach, KH PSP, GoW GoS, CoD BO, MoH, Assasins Creed Bloodlines, DeadSpace 2, Prince of Persia, SIngularity, Fallout New Vegas and StarCraft 2.

E3 is going to be brain freezingly amazing. My wallet on the other hand is going to be ravaged FFXIII style.

red dead redemption is simply amazing - the physics mindblowing (leaps and bounds more impressive than uncharted 2) the game play fully ingenious and incredibly beautiful - definitely best game out there right now

Sorry, nothing out right now is "leaps and bounds" more impressive than uncharted 2. Maybe slightly more impressive, maybe on par, but not "leaps and bounds".

I'm surprised at how high Split/Second is considering that none of my local stores got any copies.

So the two games I have on my radar are Split Second, who's demo was insanely fun, and Red Dead.

RDR looks great from what I can tell, but from anyone who owns the game, if you hate GTA type games, is this worth getting or no? I don't mind sandbox games, and the scenes when you're on your horse just walking around look fantastic. However, what I disliked about GTA is that I never really felt compelled to do anything pertaining to the main story line. Is this more story driven, and is the world a bit more fleshed out?

I love westerns, and the voice acting and graphics are absolutely stunning. Kinda wish there was a demo for this as well...

I felt the same way as u before i bought this game, i was afraid it was going to be another boring or repetitive sandbox game like i found gta and infamous to be but luckily something about this game is a lot more satisfying...

I'm getting close to the end (I think), and the story at this point is amazing. This game is so much better than GTA IV.

RDR sounds pretty sweet. I'm still waiting for the PC version to come out. I bought GTA4 on PS3 and then wished I had waited for the PC version.

So GOW III hasn't reached UK yet, or it fell off the top 45 position. That sounds pretty bad to me.

Still need to grab RDR and Alan Wake.

Actually, first I need to finish Mass Effect 2. Damn! So many games, so little time.
