I'll probably get downvoted to the core of the Earth, but am I the only one that can't take Facebook games seriously?

Facebook is a f**king disease as far as I'm concerned. I signed up for one whenever they announced it for the 360, but I have used it maybe twice. It's creepy.

i know *I'M* going to get downvoted but are all of you anti-social closet freeks?? I know Facebook is not for everyone, but its nither a "f**king disease" or a "Joke". Its a social network.

please spare me the "I rather go out and see my real friends" argument for many reasons, but mostly because you're in a gaming site where most of you (if not all) have friends that you've never met but game with on a constant basis. Whats that diff, its all just a social network.

are you trying to say that if you don't use facebook you are anti-social?

irony? considering Facebook is one of the most anti-social things out there.

also please, i don't need to defend myself, i go to parties, have fun etc, god forbid i don't want to follow everyones trip to the bathroom with crap like facebook and twitter.

Facebook is terrible, a massive privacy risk etc etc.

Facebook is a prime example of "just because it is popular, doesn't mean it's good".

he didn't say that at all. he said "I know Facebook is not for everyone, but its neither a "f**king disease" or a "Joke". It's a social network". how do you get that he's saying that you're anti-social if you don't use facebook?

My facebook is mostly for trolling my acquaintances and keeping in touch with people who no longer live near me. I don't really get what's so terrible about it, but it's hardly important to me.

I don't live in my home state anymore and facebook has been a great way for me to keep in touch with some people, as well as see plenty of pics of my niece and nephew. Granted, serial facebookers drive me nuts, but I like having an account on there.

I'm linked to 3 women, one former coworker, one in-law, one soon to be in-law, and they're all chronic vague complainers on facebook who just want attention. Drives me effing nuts. I can't bring myself to 'hide' them because it's occasionally hilariously pathetic.

My ma is 60 and plays farmville all the time. Her page is like one long spam list.

As annoying as casual games on FB can be, there is always Facebook Purity add-on for Firefox. Clears away all sorts of spam on your front page, from game notices, to "_____ is now friends with ______" and other junk. Just giving you the typed updates from whomever you haven't hidden.

Presumably because both parties will benefit from association with the other. Zynga users will give money to 7-Eleven to receive unique items, and 7-Eleven customers may take interest in Zynga products after receiving the code.

How does one make enough money to be able to brand ice-cream and cups at a major convenience store chain by running a fookin' FaceBook game?

have you seen the shit they sell through their games?

The amount that people spend on this shit is ridiculous, like 100 "reward points" for 40 odd dollars and shit?

around 63,000,000 people play farmville. (just farmville, not including the other shit zynga has)

if 1% of those people (630,000) actively pay for that shit, then zynga is making more than many MMOs.

it's fcking insane.

Really, I have nothing but respect for Zynga and their games. They take really simple ideas and make LOTS of money off it. And really, all you need to do is block the application if your friends are posting too often. Nothing wrong with making money off people with loose wallets.

And the fact is that they DO make lots of money. SuperPoke Pets is another FB game that you can spend money on (I'm more familiar with that game then the Zynga ones, so I'm using it as an example). It's not nearly as popular as the the Zynga games, but for every item they sell you to (for real cash munnies) they make thousands of dollars, and they even limit how many items are in stock, and restock with higher prices later, and still sell out. Rinse, repeat, rake in the cash. Heck, I wish I had thought of this.

It's not enough that I get spammed with people asking me for bricks, eggs and baby cows, now they're going to be asking me if I've had a Slurpee recently?

Facebook sucks.

This isn't any different then being able to get EA stuff from Dr. Pepper and 7/11. The people who are willing to spend money on a casual game will, and maybe we'll get some new Slurpee flavor for a few weeks.

That Kratos flavor was awesome... I think I had like 5 of them while they were at 7/11.

I've eaten a 7-11 sandwich or two. Same amount of sandwich as Subway for a dollar less. That's all they have going for them.

Some of the 7-Select stuff is good. Their "churros" (basically the cinnamon twists from Taco Bell) are awesome. I also like some of their sodas, the strawberry flavor is great.

I haven't eaten any prepared food from a 7-11, though. I agree, I don't think I'd want to risk it.

Marketing wise, yes.
