Look, we're not experts in the way of marketing things to the French, but we're pretty sure the advertising for Bluris all kinds of wrong. Seemingly tapping the region's most beautiful women to represent in-game power-ups, arguing their superiority over their peers, each spot concludes with the ladies throwing down in a faux race -- which is more an excuse for them to show off skin than to show off the game. Have you ever had to hit so many buttons while playing a racing game before? Yeah, we didn't think so.
Head past the break to check out the two commercials. Bonus points if you can spot the exact moment where feminism has been set back 30 years.
Man, gary numan is the breastest. Next racing game i play i will be totally jammin' to cars and day dreaming of suddenly much more appealing french women.
Damn, is that girl's nose in the pick slanted at an obscene angle or am I just so tired I'm not seeing straight. Looks like somebody didn't wash the dishes when they were told. Well, sexist or not, its good to see hot women with sexy accents right before I hit the hay. Oh the dreams I'll have tonight...
Nothing wrong here - men have been treated as jokes (and cliches) in adverts since feminism kicked in. All we're seeing here is a redressing (or undressing) of the balance. Besides most (young, good looking) women are treated like that in real life, why lie, they look to men for assurance and to dominate them slightly - it's nature ffs, you don't complain about the animals doing it (sometimes the females are dominant). They love it really, it's only the ugly old spinsters who got their tits in a knot cos they could never compete with the 'dolly birds' so stamped out the fun for all...
Benny Hill, you sure do talk a lot of smack about women liking domination when all you do when there's a pretty woman around is run around at 2x speed with whimsical background music. Just saying.
The better question is, why are they flailing so ridiculously with those controllers? No one actually games like that, but on TV they always make it look idiotic.
This is why the USA needs to calm the hell down, it's so puritan and uptight it can take a simple and fun/sexy commercial (silly as it may be) and turn it in to an "omg sexist" accusation.
Agreed. Sexy is not anti feminism. They have it all wrong. My best friend lives in the USA and complaints a lot over the commercials being sexist. Pushing the gender roles to much. = mom in the kitchen!
You do realise that REAL Feminism is about the independent CHOICE that each PERSON is allowed to exercise?
Real Feminism isn't about taking rights away from men, nor is it about giving women more rights than men. Real Feminism is about allowing women to have as free a choice to do as they please as men have in the world.
If this choice is for a woman to pose sexily in a television commercial then the emphasis is on her being allowed that independent choice - that is to say, she wasn't forced into doing this.
And that, my friends, is what real feminism is about - equality for ALL.
Aw, come on, cut Hinkle some slack... Internet white knight, "Lookit me standing up for feminism on a video game blog..." blah blah blah. "Not all gamers like wimmens for their tits..." etc.
It's 5 in the morning, I can barely even stay awake, how the heck did a comment section become a half argument again, or more importantly, where do you guys get the time?
wait, isn't this the same site that posts photo 'reports' on booth babes every time there's a major expo? Make your minds up guys. Either you adhere to the male teenage gaming stereotype, or you act like you're ashamed of it- doing both is a bit confusing.
