It looks like Guitar Hero 6 may have found a new name. A listing on amazon.com may have leaked Activision's next foray of the Guitar Hero franchise: Warriors of Rock for Wii, PS3 and 360. Unless Activision plans on releasing two Guitar Hero games in the same time frame (not unlikely), Warriors of Rock is likely the new moniker for Guitar Hero 6. The SKUs will come in three flavors: Standard, Guitar Bundle and Super Bundle (which will presumably include drums and a microphone).
For better or for worse, we can't help but conjure up images of Activision's former baby, Brütal Legend, when thinking about the new subtitle. Perhaps Activision has figured out a way to use plastic guitars in a way Tim Schafer could not?

I may be wrong, but hasn't Rock Band always used the black background/white text for it's logo, while GH used lots of color and graphics?
If so, seems like they are actively trying to create some brand confusion by adopting the design basics of their competitor.

Fair enough, my image of the brands is just shaped that way, but taking a look at a Google image results for each of the franchises logos, I still say the GH logo is moving towards a more simplified design like the RB logo over time. It's become much less cartoonish and eliminated or minimized many of the spikes and other sticky out points of the letters:

I don't think you should be using black and white for brand recognition, it's sort of the default for all logos everywhere.

Activision announced a change in the font for the logo a while ago to remove the "spikes" and make it software as to be used across all the Hero lines.

I believe the "warrior" reference is just their new name for "Star Power".
It's nice to see that they're going back to Rock & Metal for this game, and leaving the crappy Pop music relegated to Band Hero.
Though, after the awful GH5 setlist, I'm not sure if it's worth my effort to get back into this series.

GH5 definitely had a pretty weak setlist, but there were still a few songs that stood above the rest. However, the layout and ideas used in GH5 (e.g. multiple instances of the same instrument, jump in/out at any time, etc.) raises my interest for GH6 if only to see how it will evolve.
From the tracks confirmed so far, I'm still on the fence about it, but it's still waaaaaay too early to judge based on that alone.

Well, they don't make rock music anymore. At least not a lot of it.
These days on rock stations that play new music, they have those girlboy bands with male singers that sound like girls, who "play" harpsicords and synthesizers.
I'm not eagerly awaiting Emo Hero

I'd love to agree with you but outside of 1994 and the later half of the '60s almost every band has had questionably male performers.

$20 says one of the songs is a double dip of "The Warrior" by Scandal (first seen in Rocks the 80s).

I just came from Gamestop, and due to having Green Day:Rock Band preordered, he asked me if I wanted to pre order Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock. I wonder if they are going with a subtitle to make it seem as if Guitar Hero isn't as old compared to Rock Band 3. But then again, due to not being #'d could a casual person think of the game as being a sidegame and not a full sequel. But other than adding a new instrument, what newness can a music game do these days to innovate?

That's exactly what I'm thinking. I understand the idea of dropping the number at a certain point, to help consumers forget that they've been playing the same game for so long. It worked well for Call of Duty, but I think Guitar Hero/Rock Band are 2 titles that really need those numbers so people know they're actually part of the main series. Just putting a subtitle makes it look like a spin off, which could deter people who want the main titles with their more diverse set lists. Hell, look at all the spinoffs. None of them have really matched the main games in sales, except for Beatles doing a little better than RB2/GH5.
I know if I didn't pay attention until they were in the store, I'd probably see this and go "Ew, it's an all metal GH. I'll pass." "Warriors of Rock" just had a metal/hard rock kind of ring to it.

I'm praying this is the new subtitle and not Activision doubling back on themselves and releasing another Guitar Hero spin off this year. I only want three titles out of Activision this year: the core centric Guitar Hero sequel, the casual centric Band Hero sequel, and a follow up to DJ Hero. That's it.

Oh boy, just what we need.Another Guitar Hero.
This is getting old,Activision. But anyway,im still going to get it if the song list is good.
And Sudden Death by Megadeth and Fury Of The Storm by Dragonforce is good enough for meh.

ugh, another gh game......look I already have GH3, GHWT, GHSH, GHM, GHA, GH5, GHVH.....when is Activision gonna learn? many people including myself don't really want anymore GH games, we only want DLC now.... give us DLC for f**k sake!!....sigh, but like the sucker I really am, I will probably end up buying it anyway :(
if the list is at least half importable to my GH5 game....I will be happy with it, my focus is on GH5 and DLC, Activision needs to learn from Harmonix. Harmonix knew that people don't want another game, because there is really nothing else to add to the game, people just want more music and less on swapping discs.

GH3 had the best songs, and 4&5 had alot of crappy pop songs. If they go back to the rock/classic rock/metal that was in GH3 I might get it.

Guys, you've got it all wrong...
It's obviously a Dating Sim, I mean, think of what you can do with a guitar in that genre, like... Play a romantic song outside a window or earn money by playing on the street!
