I'm pretty sure somebody says this every day, but I'm pretty sure it's not Sony's fault.

Video on demand works with a silver account so you can create a US xbox account for it just as easily as a US psn account.

Canada is light years away from the USA when it comes to the power of a copyright. I'm not surprised they are not warmly embraced by companies with massive investments in copyrights.

Why do new tech services avoid Canada?

The CRTC and their asinine rules.
The CRTC makes tv suck, the internet slow and legit streaming media services (like netflix) almost non-existant.

Excellent. What format, HD? I will definitely be buying a few Sops episodes then. My favorite TV show ever.

Ty for recommending the show a few times here on Joystiq. You and my brother made me want to watch it and yeah, this is the way vampires should be.

At this rate, I won't have to get cable at all when I come back ot the states. I wish these services worked overseas. Unfortunately, only Itunes does.

i'l just use Surfthechannel to watch these shows if i really want too. maybe Sonys E3 has something in line for Canadians... but i won't hold my breath. for now i'l just rent boxsets or movies from my local Video Store. I can't really say if i would rent these shows or purchase a episode each on the store i rather have them by disc so less space is taken up on the PS3.

So do existing HBO subscribers get the service for free? (i.e., like my local cable company's OnDemand service, or the recent addition of the MLB.TV app on the PSN store)

What's the point of any of this if Netflix streaming exists? Who is going to pay $3 an episode of anything?

Well, none of these shows are actually available for streaming via Netflix. You can get their DVDs, but no streaming. I sort of agree with you though, I wouldn't pay $3 an episode, at least not for a whole season. Of course, I subscribe to HBO anyway.

Great to see "The Wire" added, but I don't think the show was shot in HD. Can't see paying $2.99 per episode if it's only in SD.

I'd rather see HBO get "The Wire" out on Blu-Ray.

Once again another company trying to get you to pay for the same content more than once. What a universal train wreck...

Six Feet Under, The Wire, Sopranos, Band of Brothers, Entourage, The Pacific, Hung and even that smug asshole Bill Maher.

There's something for everybody. If HBO had Weeds it would be the ultimate.
