Just look at the Kane and Lynch movie... Jamie Foxx will be playing a white dude. So, there's that.

He has already played a Shephard (yes, his character's name is Shep-Hard, not Shep-ard). He is a shoe in!

Plus he already played a guy named Shepard, playing dude's named Shepard is in Matthew Fox's blood. Keep it goin.

Matthew Fox may have the look, but not the personality. He is too soft.
Plus I think the movie would be better off having Shepard going down the renegade path. Not a complete jerk, but enough to show Shepard will do whatever it takes to get the job done.

Also the voice acting for the female Shepard is sooooooo much better than the male version. I think a female Shepard would be a much larger draw card.

If they attempt to create a "canon" version of Shepard or any of the events of the game, I will pass on this movie and pretend it doesn't exist, much like Matrix 2 & 3.

I think the First Contact War would make for an excellent space action movie.

I hope they bring back Xaolin Showdown.

I agree that this shouldn't be the games' story adapted, but I don't think it happening on a film makes something canon. The games' story is already underway to it's last chapter, a film won't change that. In fact, the whole theme of ME is that YOU choose what is canon, innit?

I wouldn't mind a side story, something like what was shown in Neil Blomkamp Halo shorts. But yea, I don't think that focuses on Shepard would be good, as movies that have the one central protagonist like Mass Effect would end up portraying them as a flat action hero.

There's no way that trying to do the movie on Shepard would lead to anything good. It's just the kind of narrative that wouldn't translate well to film.

I don't understand why they don't just have Drew Karpyshyn (sp?) do it. He did the games and the novels...weird.

Well, we did get District 9 out of that (best film of 2009 in every way), so maybe Mass Effect falling through could yield something great too ;)
