I beat this yesterday. It's definitely the hardest Bit.Trip game but it's really awesome.

Punishing games are awesome ( depending on the game and how it punishes you ). This review brings stuff like Gradius V and R-Type among other things to mind. As long as it's fun ( contra shattered soldier ) then the difficulty is fine.

Wonder if this game will help boost the economy by causing people to buy new tvs and wiimotes

Looks a lot like Robot Unicorn Attack - http://games.adultswim.com/robot-unicorn-attack-twitchy-online-game.html, including the rainbow.

The collective Bit.Trip series was my favorite game of 2009. I am crazy devout into these games, despite never being able to finish the last song in Beat.

Not sure if I love this game as much as the rest. Even with all the abilities you gain as you progress, the patterns became a bit redundant. It was cool that in each world, the things you jumped/kicked/slid under were reskinned, but you're still doing the same three things. The last three games just seemed to have a lot more new and interesting things happening every other second that you had to learn.

The new system of 36 short challenges, rather than three big ones is cool at first, but the one-strike rule is more annoyingly punishing than it is challenging. In the other games, you could work hard to build up a resistance to the one part of the song that your fingers simply could not move fast enough to react to. You'd take an ass kicking, but if you had played well enough up to that point, you were permitted to continue. Here, you can totally kill it for three minutes, but one slip up even at the very end, and it's all erased. Also, the one-hit gimmick kind of negates the point in having Hyper - Mega - Whatever levels. It's only for points and visuals now.

Despite the annoying punishment, in three days I had already made it to world 3, so I guess it's not all that hard compared to Beat and Core (which took me literally weeks to pass the first stage), and like the rest, you feel like an absolute god when you do complete a stage.

The gold bars are cute but since a perfect run is demanded of the player, I'm so exhausted that I don't want to go back and do the double-perfect run. I only complain so much because the great things of this game are so obvious to me or anyone who has played a Bit.Trip game. It's very addictive, and will capture the attention of anyone in the room. All the Bit.Trip games are great; just this one not as much. If you aren't playing these games, you're not using your wii right (no joke intended there).

Also, Super Street Fighter IV makes me want to throw my controller more than this game. Bit.Trip games are very tough, but I never feel that the game isn't responding to my controls properly, or that it is cheating.

This *looks* ridiculously cool, totally loving the retro stylings. Something to make me regret trading my Wii in? Almost, almost.

Why is this man downvoted? People make mistakes and he is on the verge of realizing it.

As opposed to Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2? Or Punch Out!? Or Muramasa? Or World of Goo? Or Tatsunoko vs. Capcom? Or...

Ah, what the hell. It's pointless. Everybody already "knows" there's nothing great on the Wii.

Punch Out!! was one of the games that convinced me to sell it in the first place. Absolutely despised it. I play games for fun, and it just frustrated the living daylights out of me. The same was true of SMG. The Wii's controller just isn't for me. Take away it's controller, and it falls flat.

I own World Of Goo on PC and Mac so I haven't missed out there; and I still get Nintendo franchises via DS.

The Bit.Trip series looks super cool, though, so let's hope the 3DS is capable of running Wiiware titles.

This game is addicting. I've purchased all of the bit.trip games, and this doesn't disappoint. It's definitely different than the other three. It seems more relatable, less abstract. It's still suitably artsy and warped, but is at least grounded in something that gamers outside of the hardest-of-hardcore can recognize. I love all of the bit.trip games equally (okay, maybe core a little bit less...only a little though), but this game might be the runaway hit that Gaijin Games needs.

I've never played a Bit.Trip game before. If I enjoyed the challenge of "Prinny...really be the hero?", do you think I'd enjoy this one? I like the retro art design, and still play the original Pitfall on my PS2. This sounds like how it felt to play H.E.R.O. on the Atari 2600. Every level had to be memorized.

Save yourself time and money. This is the same game, came out a couple years ago, is better, and is free.

Canabalt is awesome, but it's not the same game any more than Bad Company and Call of Duty are the same game.

It's only "back to the beginning" because that's how you perceive it. If the first sixteen levels were strung together and called one stage, nobody would complain, because you'd just be going back to the last "checkpoint" instead.

How would it be any different? You just wouldn't be kicked back to the menu after each checkpoint. It'd be the exact same game.

This game is HAAAAARD, but GOOOOOD. Really dig the music and the general presentation and feel of the game. And you aren't friggin' kidding about the long levels before the boss fights. Good God, those are rough.
