I can't wait for this game. It's going to be hard balancing school work with Halo Reach, though.

Wow.
Being a PS3 fanboy myself, I came in here to actually post something nice about this game, and how awesome I think it's going to be.
Now I'm not so sure if I want to!

What the hell? I haven't been able to comment in Halo articles lately (and only Halo ones). I keep getting the yellow "You Did It!" box at the top. Let's see if this goes through...

I figured out, but I gave up. Joystiq hates anything even remotely close to JxUxGxGxExRxNxAxUxT (I've literally tried 10 other obfuscations and that's as good as it gets), which is what I was trying to talk about.

Halo never does well on PC, its gameplay doesn't suit it very well. Too floaty and not enough precision.

Well they brought Halo 2 to PC, but I'm pretty sure they didn't end up making enough money to justify it. Microsoft has made it clear they're much more focused on the 360, since Halo 3, Gears 2, and Alan Wake don't, and apparently won't, have PC releases.

Halo 1 and 2 are on the pc, where have you been?
Halo 2 failed on the pc because Microsoft made it Vista-exclusive, which failed. They thought it would increase sales but all it did was limit who could buy it and run it. Let this be a lesson to you, kiddies, Don't tie a new game to a new OS that is new on the market. Especially one that isn't proven. Not only do you limit your sales, but when the OS sucks, you aren't going to get people to "upgrade" to it to play one game. Same reason why DirectX10 still isn't mainstream. Tying it to one OS to try to force people to upgrade isn't going to work.

Halo 2 didn't sell well on PC because:
1) Halo 2 was launched on Xbox in 2004. It therefore had circa 2004 Xbox graphics. It was then released on PC in 2007. Not only had consoles moved on by then but generally PC gamers want more from their games than what console ports have to offer, so a port of a last gen console game (from 2004) in 2007 wasn't all that attractive.
2)They tied it to Vista, which was particularly unpopular. They wanted to encourage Vista sales but all they did was make XP owners angry ("Why can't we play it. The Xbox could play it 3 years ago" etc.)
3)Being designed for consoles, it doesn't really suit KB/M all that well. The controls and scope of the game are limited and it was far simpler than the average PC shooter.
4)It was on GFWLive. Back then you had to pay to access GFWL, which meant that if you were a PC only gamer and wanted to play that single game online, you had to pay MS $50/year for the privilege. There are other online GFWL games which were launched while it was still a paid service and they also generally did badly for that reason.

I participated in the BETA and I liked the game so far, and I thought it was pretty cool of Bungie to make a video like this thanking everyone, especially with video by other players. I like BUNGIE (and VALVE) because they listen to their community, I've sent them many e-mails, almost all being replied to (I asked BUNGIE "Wut R U waring" but that's only because I sent that to the wrong game company.) with politeness and helpfulness.

There was one match where I used the jet pack to fly directly above some guy and kept shooting him all the way down until I landed on top of him with a big boom. It made me feel pretty bad ass, he didn't even see it coming.
Great game, good times.

@HedonisticKai: You realise not all attention is good right? You are a platform racist. Everybody with any sense hates you and those like you.
@Ranus Studios: Either between a rock and a hard place, or in a beautiful, balanced place where both sides get along. You choose. I myself choose the latter.

Honestly I was never a Halo fan but I played the Halo Reach beta and was pleasantly surprised. For some reason I enjoyed Halo Reach way more than Halo 3. Living Dead on Halo 3 is quite fun also though too bad it isn't a regular play list.

I still like the thought that the twirling the ship back and golf-swinging that poor sap wasn't a glitch, but actual skill
As for my best thing?
Was playing invasion as the Elite. We dragged the core up to the spot, but the person died and sent it into the circle, so we had to claim it. Less than a minute left, I jetpack up and towards them, I start to throw my last plasma but they kill me. Plasma sticks to my foot as my corpse hurtled towards them, landed right in the midst, hiding the grenade til it was too late and got 4 kills all at once. I respawn and hurry towards it, another elite is under me as I jetpack up to the spot. He gets right under me as I run out of rocket juice, and I'm able to get just enough to jump and fly away as a rocket nails him. I land in the circle, pick up the core, and won it for us with just under 3 seconds on the clock.
I'm disappointed it wasn't 1 seconds left, but oh well.

dont mean to be rude, but isnt this what theater mode is for? i believe you could save replays in the beta (although i didnt play or follow it too much)
im just saying because this sounds like (if edited nicely) it would be something when watched that would induce me to flip a table from how epic it sounded.

Yeah, I saved it to my fileshare, but it looked like none of the other things that was on it from Halo 3 was on the list, so I don't quite know if its still there. I'll have to load up the complete map-pack disk from ODST to check.
And yeah, I didn't have much of a clue how awesome it was until after it happened. For me at least, its always been sheer luck that makes me do something awesome, not skill... XD
Depressing in one respect, but also so freakin awesome at the same time.
