Sam Fisher decided to change the rules of stealth a few months ago for everyone, and the first thing to go was subtlety.

Fisher can go climb a tree, only Batman gets to decide the rules on stealth.

And if Batman ever does non-stealthy things, it's because he's the god damn night.

My god those are terrible animations! I thought the days of sliding feet were gone... apparently they're still kickin around though.

That is the main thing that irks me. I'm not a graphics whore or anything, but these animations are f'n terrible. The first splinter cell game had better animations than this and that came out in frickin 2002. It's a shame because I was really excited for this game when I was first saw it in an issue for GI awhile back. Now every video I see turns me more and more off to it.

My only hope is that the gameplay is good enough to give us a sequel that they can invest a bit more money in and allow us to change the lame main character.

I've been following this game for ages and am looking forward to it...

seems like a lot of commenters here have made up their minds about it from just the videos though.

Nope, there is me as well, Obsidian never let me down, they are like a poor version of BioWare.

There games might not look that great, but they are always fantastic to play.

Oh, and a new game with Brian Mitsoda attached to it, this can't go wrong.

I think people keep forgetting that this is an RPG, and not an action game. They keep expecting action game level of production values from the vids, and keep getting disappointed every time they are reminded, that unless you have a bottomless budget at your disposal (Square, Bethesda, BioWare, Lionhead), action game production values are almost prohibitive to do in an RPG.

I've never once loss sight that this is an RPG, and because of that, I am still very excited about getting Alpha Protocol next Tuesday.

Yeah, it could look better, be animated better, have better voice actors, etc. But so long as the gameplay holds up, the story turns out to be top-notched, and it delivers an overall experience on par with what is expected out of a quality RPG, I'll happily overlook all of it's *cosmetic* deficiencies.

Besides if the game sells well, no doubt all of those problems will be addressed in the sequel, as SEGA, the publisher, will be more than willing to pour more money into insuring the sequel looks as good as an action game.

Like Ryuk said, the animation is becoming more and more of a turn-off with every vid. It still looks alright, but not as good as I had hoped.

If by any chance, you are referring to my earlier post, then yes, i resort to what is needed in order to deter more pointless (not Joystiq's fault) posts like this. If not, then forget I was ever here, and I love puppies.

...so...um...if it ends up being REALLY bad...you...are going to love it anyway? This reads like your talking about one of your kids. I think many of us hunger for some real spy action, so I understand your want.

Speaking of kids, if you see someone with an incredibly ugly child, on a scale of "Yes" to "You Must," is it okay to tell them so? This is a question for everyone.

I am in love with the concept of a spy rpg. Judging by what I've seen, and the pedigree which is responsible for making it,

Yes, I will love it regardless. From what is known about this game - and not to mention the opinion of a friend of mine who is playtesting it - this game will be good, at the berry berry least.

Unlimited possibilities? It looks like his moves are restricted to A: Blow stuff up, B: Punch people in the face, and C: Shoot people in the face.

I'm still excited for this game, but it's kind of dragon age'ing me in terms of trailer turn-offs. It seems to be getting uglier with every trailer. The animations are, in some instances, just weird. Like when he's sticking the grenade or whatever it is to the pillar. Why does his arm need to swing that wide? It's more like he's throwing it. And the walking animation on some of the guards...I'm not even going to go there.

Dragon Age maybe wasn't the prettiest game, rpgs of this type often aren't, but it did offer an amazing story and gameplay. Their trailers just didn't show off the good points. Then the cgi trailer came, and DA became a day one purchase.

ME2 was the complete opposite, the in-game trailers sold me, and the cgi trailers, the one with the squadmates talking, that nearly ruined it for me. The dialogue like for example the now classic: "That can't happen" Ugh.

So I'm hoping that they'll either stop with these kinds of trailers, maybe hire the same studio bioware did for a cgi trailer, or just show of something that is polished. These are not endearing anyone to the product, even though I'm still convinced it'll be a good game. Trailers are supposed to make people want stuff, this is more driving me away from a day one purchase, than driving me towards. (Note that I don't have my license yet, so I can't actually drive. It's a figure of speech).

Is everyone now using the Modern Warfare font, as well as their music? This looks horrible. The graphics look like it was made to preform on a DS.

The graphical detail looks low. Like wii low. Hopefully PC will have some more. But, if the gameplay/controls are good and the story catching, I might pick it up. I love the concept of a Espionage RPG. Hopefully obsidian can nail it.
