The trailer above shows the game's first Rogress, Simmah, merging its power and wisdom with the protagonist. We'd like to tell you more about what happens in the game, but we're distracted by the voice acting. Much like Infinite Space, all we can say about it in this game is that it is present and audible.

1. "How could that Rogress give him so much power?!" It only did 1108 and caused him to grunt.
2. Deathchanter sounds like a pansy AND he runs away! Good combination.
5. "but also apparently as the source of the "Ray" energy that powers" Sounds like they enslave their summons.
3. Voice acting is flat.
4. Day one buy

The voice acting is mystifying; it is flat and almost lifeless, but compellingly competent. IGN posted some vids of this game, in them you can get a better listen of the voice acting: it is laughingly bad, so bad it's good. The graphics look charming, and I really like the art style. Deathchanter seems to be sporting a mean mullet.

You know what ? After playing Baten Kaitos, any voice acting sounds good.

I just turned the voice acting off in Baten Kaitos, which saved me from hours of eardrum rape and allowed me to actually enjoy the story. It stupefies me why more developers don't give players that option.

It's not so much that it's bad, it's like they're reading a script and not all that interested in the conversation. They sound fine for voices to the person, but the actor needs to sound even a little bit into it.

Not being able to emote is generally referred to as bad acting, be it in voiceover or otherwise.

I just hope the European publisher listens to all the people on their forums saying "Please, for the love of god, don't use those voices!". I'm not sure if they'd rather no voices, or the original Japanese voices, but either way, I hope the publisher listens.

I would love it if this game had the original Japanese voice cast with all the text being in English as an option, those dubs are horrible i dont think i could last the entire game with those voices and flat acting.

I had Zimas before and they made me feel I was stronger than I really was.

I think calling this voice "acting" is overly generous. But seriously, I don't think it's fair to put it on the same level as Infinite Space. The acting in that game was hammy, but competent; this is just amateurish and terrible.

Deathchanter's voice reminds me of one of the scientists from HL1.
