Actually if the odds are against me I'd rather watch other players get eaten alive for my personal enjoyment, Because if i try i would wanna get further than the already uploaded videos and i would be frustrated and mad.

Just played it and it's not that hard really. You just have to think of it as a racing game and you'll do fine :D

2/6 mutations so far are versus/scavenge, which are the modes that I'm actually interested in. Pretty dang lame for me.

....because most of them are for modes that I touch once and never go back to? Or in the case of single-player, I don't think I've ever used.

I agree completely. Realistic Versus went incredibly well, I don't see why they aren't focusing their efforts more in competitive mods. Let's face it, we love hurting people - not bots.

You got realism versus to be a full-time game mode and you're bitching about distribution of game modes?

Bad news: most people play campaign.

Faenix, he was complaining because only 2 of the 6 mutations released thusfar have been playable in the modes he likes (versus/scavenge).

Frankly, I agree. There's no reason last gnome on earth and bleedout shouldn't have been available in versus/scavenge. To restrict them to campaign only was just stupid.

Somehow I misread the title as "more like Left 4 Dead 1" and got excited.

(While L4D2 is great, the first still holds a special spot in my heart.)

I the general L4D community i've notices most people consider the first game to be better than the sequel, which is why i can't really justify buying the sequel. Maybe if the gore is added back-in with the R18+ rating in Aus and the price drops a little, then yes.

For me it just felt too unbalanced. Every match I played in versus the infected always won. At best maybe 1 survivor would make it to the safe house, but that was if the team was lucky. I played maybe 9-10 matches and they all ended the same.

The levels themselves are (mostly) great though. There are a few parts that could use some work I think, but for the most part the levels are still good.

The melee weapons are also pretty good and fun to have around.

Really? I can't imagine why (people would like the first one better). I feel like they got rid of all the cheapness in the first game; namely the invincibility in hallways/corners, and the survivor-unfriendly level design (I don't miss ladders, is what I'm saying).

Im upset that they took out the scoring system
where the amount of health you had affected the score.

That really did complicate things in a good way.

100 yard dash with health on the red for max points, or heal up and get little points? decisions decisions. they should bring that back.

I didn't play the first extensively, but the main draw for me about L4D2 over 1 is that the campaigns feel more varied and distinct, which makes them more fun to play. Also, melee weapons!

Does anyone else think it would be more fun to play as the lone survivor without any special infected and just tons of common infected?

It's really easy actually. I dont know what they did, but its not bad. I beat Dead Center 1-3 on Expert with no real issues.

Specials don't incapacitate you. Once you run out of life, they back off for a few seconds, and you go grey. Second attack will kill you. And there are medkits EVERYWHERE.

Also, this seems like another case of the 'Valve Fan Entitlement'

Valve does ANYTHING AT ALL, something inconsequential and/or completely free

Everyone gets on their soap box to complain about it and how it isn't what they personally wanted (because the world revolves around them solely)

That's capitalism for you. If you want to sell stuff and even have people use it you have to give them what they want. But Valve's heart is in the right place though

What does capitalism have to do with it? They aren't selling anything. If these were paid expansions then sure, they wouldn't sell, but complaining about them would still be stupid. They are temporary, non-mandatory (I assume, I haven't played L4D in months so haven't played the mutations), and free. If it were mandatory and permanent there may be some reason to complain, but as it stands there isn't. If you don't like it, don't play it. End of story.

I did this on Dead Center last night. It's actually pretty fun. Very tense too as any incap means you're pretty much done. For some reason they let you back up but you're seeing white and a scratch or two after that will end it.

It's definitely hard, but its easier to survive an entire campaign on Expert with this mutation, than with three other good players or the bots. If you want Still Something To Prove, and your friends don't have the patience, then this mod is for you. You can also get a ton of other achievements that are otherwise more difficult, like Level A Charge, Sob Story, Violence in Silence, Bridge Across Trebeled Slaughter (or however you spell that one), Confederacy of Crunches (hard but at least there are no boomers), etc.
