As if your Zerg rushes needed any more fine-tuning, Blizzard has gone ahead and announced an extension to the StarCraft 2 beta, to June 7. Originally set to conclude on Monday, this gives players an extra week to see which race is the most dominant. Protip: it's totally the Protoss.
StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty lands at retail on July 27.
[Thanks, David]

Surprisingly, it runs at full speed with my Intel integrated 3100. So for anyone who was unsure if it would run, it will. You don't even need a graphics card =P

But at that point, does it look any better than SC1? SC2 + HD4870 = Gorgeous, and that's only mid-range.

Haha good point. Still a must buy even if it only looks slightly better than sc1 =P

That Intel is still a "graphics card", it's just integrated. And you think it's smooth? Crank it to Ultra and watch it crawl.
The beta is getting worse the longer it goes. The Battle.net interface is getting prettier and prettier, but the game performance is getting worse. Last patch introduced massive lag for everyone. You got "Waiting for player" every few seconds. Unit responses were delayed after they enabled UDP. The graphics seemed to take a hit. On Ultra, the buildings no longer had their "sheen", but seemed more dull after the last patch. I couldn't even move the minimap to look around, I had to use the arrow curors, Other people, their minimap stopped working altogether.

@Drakkenfyre :
Yeah...the beta used to be rock-solid.
The most recent patch introduced so much lag...I think I only got the 'Waiting for player' screen once before it (and I've been playing a while)...now I get it almost every other game.
Last night, after every match it simply said 'Match in Progress' rather than displaying our new rank as a result of the game...After 8 games my rank had not moved at all.
Yes, the interface is prettier. But I'm getting worried. A few months ago I was really excited because of how solid the beta seemed...now we're less than two months from release and I'm wondering if they'll be able to fix things up before then.

How strange - I've been playing for hours yesterday and today and only seen the 'waiting for players' thing twice. Are you guys on the US servers? European here, if that makes any difference, but things are all fine and dandy for me, even in 3v3 games.

They have improved it, from what I hear. First day of the patch it was non-stop "Waiting for players".
My first match after the patch I literally got it a few seconds into the game, and almost non-stop the entire match until near the end.

Yes, it runs smooth. I honestly don't care what the graphics look like, it runs perfect and at above 40 fps. That's incredible for any integrated chip. Some people don't have spare cash to throw on high end gaming cards.

The Zerg could use some work. That last roach nerf almost completely crippled their T1, and Hydras as a T3 unit is just ridiculous compared to everyone else's T3.

Hydralisks are a Tier 2 unit, not Tier 3. Tier 3 is Ultralisk, Battlecruisers, Carriers.

I'm sorry, I meant late T2. You're right. Comparing them to T's T2 (Siege Tanks) and P's T2 (Immortals). They're kinda irrelevant at that point.
What's a Zerg to do for AA? Everyone else has some AA capabilities in T1. What about Zerg? Queens?

Yes, Queens in T1 are pretty good at stopping a banshee rush. Hydras are amazing for AA, and anti-ground, if you must know. You should be able to get hydras in time for any big air push. I actually recently switched to try mutalisk builds as I found hydralisks to be maybe a bit too good at what they do.

Zerg early AA is weak. Queens are about it. They nerfed them because Koreans were sending a shitload out with Broodlords, and spamming Transfusion on them. So now we get Queens that move slow as shit off-creep.
People have been asking for early AA, and all we get is "You have the Queen."

Apparently it is Terran that is slightly op'd right now, followed by zerg, and in last toss. I'm unsure about these beta extensions, I've heard bnet is shutting down may31-june2, I get until june 26th for playtime.
As for the waiting for player problem, not really getting it, but I am having a lot of matches not being recorded by bnet.

That "playtime" thing is a bug. It's meant for like the Russian markets that have limited playtime. You won't get to play past anyone else.

It's a good sign when everyone else is saying different opinions of who is really op'd. Means the game is actually pretty balanced.
IMHO Koreans are op'd

You want OP? Protoss Voidrays charging up on themselves, and doing 26 damage per second to your buildings. Then times them by five.
Or Terrans going MMM, Marines, Marauders, and Medivacs. One of the most bullshit strategies, and is all everyone does anymore. It rolls thru just about everything.

I think the terrans with the reapers are a bit OP. I can make a ton and destroy a base way too quick.
The toss is just crazy cause their pylons bring up the number of units.
Zerg is all the overloards that also double as dropships, observers and what not.
It's just easy to know you can only build in an area along with actually bribing up the units.

Pretty much! I'm surprised it took so long for anyone to say that. There has been some consensus throughout the beta that one side or another is slightly more OP at one point. It has changed over and over though, so they must be pretty close overall. More than close enough for skill to be the ultimate determinant.

I play zerg exclusively and I feel like were really underpowered. Protoss has some really nice fancy stuff early on and its ability to go straight to void is incredibly aggravating. Then that whole blocking the entrance shit Terran and Toss do basically makes lings completely useless.

It's called strategy, Devin. If an early ling rush of 6 lings is ineffective, then go straight to hydras or air. By time they get voidrays to my base, I usually have about 9 Mutas to destroy them. And you have to shift+right click on the marines in a MMM push with mutas and queue up all the marines in the group, otherwise you'll lose your air.
