So it looks like the team at Warner Bros is sticking with the live-action ads for F.E.A.R. 3. Apparently it's just a thing it's doing, so you'd best get used to it. Anyway, the latest trailer for F.E.A.R.3 is all about telekinetic bad boy, Paxton Fettel. The actual gameplay segments of the trailer show off some of Fettel's abilities, including telepathic control of enemy soldiers. He can also lift soldiers in the air, making them easy targets for F.E.A.R.'s perennial protagonist, Point Man.
He also glows a really pretty orange. After all, there's no reason to murder hapless goons without a little flair, is there?

keep drinkin' that haterade, joystiq, but the ability to take over the bodies of enemy soldiers sounds like fun to the nth degree.

I won't write it off completely because Bioshock 2 was surprisingly well received. But The combination of Monolith not developing and these ridiculous silly live action trailers makes it hard to get excited for this game. I really liked the first two games but for this one I'll have to wait and see. At this point, definitely not a day one purchase if at all.

I have to agree. These trailers aren't selling the game to me at all. I'm also confused as to which character you are playing or is this going to be like L4D where there's a group of you with the AI controlling the others if you have no friends?
The F.E.A.R. franchise seems to be going the way of others such as HALO where by the first game is simple but engrossing and then they keep adding more and more things you can do until you can do so much you tend to forget about half of it when playing. F.E.A.R. should learn to K.I.S.S.

+1. As cool as the game looks, the live-action segments are just cheesy and totally unnecessary.

The original F.E.A.R. will always have a special place in my gamer's heart. It's been five years and I still get the shivers when I pop that game in.
F.E.A.R. 2, I thought, was a worthy follow-up, even if it lacked the utter dread that the first one did. I thought it focused a little too much on action rather than atmosphere... but it was still a badass game.
That said--
I have no idea what to make of these F.3.A.R trailers. They do not seem even the slightest bit scary. They don't even intrigue me. They feel less like a trailer for a game I should be eagerly anticipating and more like the trailer for a B-rate wannabe chop-flick.
I'm not hating on this game... I just hope it delivers. Bah.

My recipe for good BBQ - Get in the car and drive to Memphis for some good pulled pork. :)
And Ollies BBQ sauce from Birmingham Alabama. Best BBQ sauce in the southeast US. Heavy on the vinegar and peppers (black and red).
One thing I'll never put in my BBQ sauce: Brown Sugar or Honey. BLEH!!! I hate my BBQ tasting "sweet".
