you guys understand that using the Dark Side of the Force doesn't necessarily make you evil, its just a different interpretation of it. Very important concept to understand.

No, not really, because that concept isn't anymore valid over standard theories than Protestant concepts are than Catholic ones

Mace Windu didn't really use the dark side, he sort of teetered on the edge, but not even that really. Mace is the inventor of the style of lightsaber called Vaapad. The key component of Vaapad was enjoying the battle and the victory, but specifically feeding off the fury and darkness of the opponent. Neither the style itself nor Mace was particularly dark side, it just had the possibility to introduce the user to the dark side. You might say it was the gateway drug of the dark side in a way. Aside from Vaapad, Mace also secretly diverted from standard Jedi thinking, he believed in peace through any method, which is why he tried to execute Palpatine

It's not just a theory, it's practically canon.

As I understand it, there is no "practically canon" when it comes to SW. People are pretty strict when it comes to what goes in that universe. They even have certain levels of canon, alphabetized so that SW-casuals like myself can easily understand to never, EVER, question George Lucas written work.

The theory exists in canon, but that doesn't make it fact in the universe. The Unifying, Living, Dark, Light, and all the other kinds of force are still different interpretations of the force in the Star Wars universe. Just because the current Jedi order including Luke adhere to that interpretation of the Force doesn't make it fact anymore than the Pope being the Pope makes Catholicism fact.

The Dark Side isnt' used for evil. Did you guys even watch the Star Wars movies? Evil is subjective either way. Look at Hitler for example, the man thought he was the most awesome person on the planet.
Anakin didn't use his dark powers for evil, if anything his intentions were good. He wanted to protect Padme. He loved her so much, he wanted to do whatever to keep her.

He loved her so much he had to choke her to death, it was the only way to protect her.

Wouldn't a lower grade of canon be "practically" canon then? What do I care really, I just want the game :3

I was really hoping the graphics would look a little better. or at least smoother and less awkward.
Also I don't like that in combat jedi and sith hit each other with lightsabers until their health goes down. it should be like a real duel, where its just lightsaber to lightsaber, and then contact to body is basically death.
I don't want to have to hit a jedi in the head with my lightsaber 12 times to kill him.

yeah, I wish more SW games took the Jedi Knight route of allowing full body dismemberment instead of "baseball bat made out of light" most of them see lightsabers as. I suppose instant touch kills would be none too exciting for an mmo though

Dismemberment would be harder to animate and cause more strain on the engine which (since it has to run an MMO) is probably already working at full capacity. Also, it would probably require the game to have a higher ESRB rating, which isn't good for an MMO as they generally want to reach as many gamers as possible. It is a SW game, and there ARE instances of dismemberment in the movies, but they were rare and quick (the only drawn out one was Anakin's triple-dismemberment). If you could dismember people in the game, it would happen all the time.
But it would be awesome to see, true.

I agree with your Lightsaber comment, but the graphics are fairly well done for a game that has been in production for so long. With the time it takes MMOs to be created, if they had to stop and catch up on graphics every so often, we would never see a release.

Who cares! So sick of seeing posts about this game. Does Bioware pay for this coverage? Does this game even have a release date? I smell another Tabula Rasa.

The Dark Side is just a tangible form of "power". If the possibility are endless, why not see how far you can go? But seeing how far you can go, always comes with a great deal of pain & sacrifice. It's like there's a secret 'trap' in gaining power. A failsafe that triggers something in our mind that makes us go crazy.

The only thing that I'm worried about is the balance between the classes. The last thing I'll need is a lone Jedi/Sith player that can over whelm anything in it's path.
