I'd download the demo if it didn't take my connection 3 days to get. Which means I can't game online and download at the same time =\ So I tend to ask these questions to get the wonderful Joystiq communities opinion.

It's fun, it's football, I'm not good at jukes or defense but the passing seems good. I like the idea behind the camera where you're stuck in third person behind the player you're controlling. It feels like you're really playing just that player even though you cam switch players.

Thanks for listing the small things. Those are what I notice big time. Glad to hear some positive feedback. Maybe I will rent it and see how I enjoy it. Looks like a solid fun football game.

The speed is the thing I noticed most. While you may think the collision animations are brilliant in the trailers, it will take a while till you can appreciate them in game. The game moves fast and is intense. You're trying to break through the line or you're waiting for your receiver to get open and then the animation for you getting tackled is half over before you realize you're down. It's not a complaint, it's just an observation I feel deserved pointing out. While Madden and NCAA are built for people who want to watch football and change the course of the game, Backbreaker is for people who want to play football. It's easily the best non EA football game since 2k5, and I'm sure for plenty of people, it will be their new "go to" franchise -- if it succeeds.

@killface
funny you are bad at the things most of us are good at and good at the hard stuff
for me and most the people who have it already D is too easy and get too many sacks and running works well. throwing is tough. but this is on hard difficulty if you play on less its too easy to win

its a fun game has alot more entertainment value than madden and tackle alley alone is tons of fun. everyone should give it a shot. but yes it has some problems as well

I wonder if Backbreaker is going to tear anyone away from Madden, effectively fracturing the userbase.

I am a Madden Fan and personally i can't wait for this and hopefully the NFL looks at this and gives it the NFL license it needs to fit right in.

I'll probably pick this up sometime in August, when the Madden competition drives it down to $20.

I went to blockbuster this morning to see if they had it in and they did not. Their shipment got delayed due to the holiday yesterday. My friend then called me to pick him up because he wanted to buy it, so I did. The guy at gamestop told us it was awful and said if you must play it "please please please just rent it!".

Apparently he even has talked several people out of buying it. (my friend included) Told the customers that if you really wanted to waste $50 just give it to him and he would set it on fire in front of them.

Well, maybe it's just preference, because I'm finding that I'm liking it more then Madden. To each there own I guess.

Ah don't take that Metacritic rating too seriously. I think the fact that it's unlicensed is driving down the scores by about 20%.

It's a European developer that is giving their first shot at a football game, and it's a pretty damn good effort.

The first Madden, APF, Blitz, and Tour games to hit the 360 were very disappointing in terms of gameplay. I think this is the best "debut" football game I've ever played, and assuming a Backbreaker 2 is made, it could easily surpass Madden in terms of quality.

In season mode, can you play with 2 franchises? This is how my buddy and I prefer to play and then we play the games where our teams meet. This feature seems to be taken out of many games lately.

If you like more or less traditional sports simulations, Backbreaker probably won't do it for you, but if you aren't really a fan of sports games in general, and are looking for a brief diversion, BackBreaker is a pretty decent spin on the football genre. Only played it for a bit, and obviously haven't played the league modes (which really don't seem like much to me..), but it's really not a very good game if you're looking for something closer to football, but the GoW-style camera is a twist and the uniqueness of the tackles make it worth playing once to see what might be able to be done with more time.

If it came out in February, it would have gotten more attention... just after the Super Bowl and in the real lull int he football videogame season... but coming out in June, just a couple weeks before the NCAA Football '11 demo drops and a month before the full game... it's going to be tough to push people to try it who are waiting for this summer's football games.

I wish Road to Backbreaker was player based and not team based, kind of like Road to the Show in the MLB The Show game.

With the NFL losing the court case brought against them for exclusive rights to merchandise I wonder if that will affect their exclusive EA deal?
