BioShock 2 on sale for $30 on Amazon today

There are plenty of ways to get to Rapture: You could survive a plane crash in the middle of an ocean; or be abducted by one of its citizens as a child. Heck, if you're a really good swimmer and can hold your breath for a long time, you probably have a decent shot. We're in favor of a safer, more practical alternative: Buy a copy of Bioshock 2.

We're also in favor of the most frugal alternative: Amazon's Deal of the Day. Bioshock 2 is half-off today from the online retailer, available for $30 on the Xbox 360 and PS3 -- and the PC version is even cheaper: $26.

Now, there's our idea of the perfect summer vacation: babysitting our little sister.

lol me either. i was cursing Joystiq in Walmart the other day when i glanced at this cover in the game case.

On a related note, this deal is pretty sweet 'cause I can use my $10 credit from Modnation and get this for $20.. and still be eligible for free shipping.

I totally disagree. This sequel wisely doesn't try to pull the same sort of twists that made BioShock great. Instead it focuses on strong themes, solid narrative and much more polished game mechanics. If you liked BioShock, this is totally worth $30.

that's smart spending kudos I actually got it for 10 bucks on gamefly "used" meaning it was previously played before purchase i was the only person that played it i got a new copy

if you liked the first one i would say bioshock 2. i think they did a really good job creating new areas of Rapture. plus the ability to dual wield plasmids and guns is pretty cool. just dont get caught up in the idea of being a big daddy that can get easily killed by splicers. and not to spoil anything, but there is a really cool section near the end of the game...

Borderlands always.

Borderlands if you have friends

Splinter Cell if you like shooters and a progressing narrative

Bio-... Alan Wake if you like games.

I've played and finished all three.

- As MarkHawk says, Borderlands is best with fiends. I finished the game solo; it sat on the shelf; now I have re-discovered it playing with my friends.

- SplinterCell is short. It was fun, but it is now on the shelf. There are coop missions I have not completed yet. So again, I am waiting on friends to renew the fun.

-BioShock is great. Of the three, it is the only one I have played through twice. The multiplayer part is OK (its no MW2) - the best is the solo. Buy used at GameFly. Check the price there and you will see why.

+1 for Borderlands.

This is a great Game, if you like the first Bioshock definitely get this one!
The multiplayer was fun too.

For Canadians looking for the (near) same deal, Rogers has used copies of Bioshock 2 (or Mass Effect 2 or Darksiders) for $30.

FFXIII, God of War 3, and Bad Company 2 are $40 each as well. Again, used.

If you can find a copy, that is.

2 days ago, Amazon.ca had the Bioshock 2 collector edition for 43$ (like 50% off), cheaper than the regular edition. Since I got a 10$ off from ordering Red dead Redemption, I ended up getting it for 33$ and still qualify for free super shipping and the package arrived the next day. Pretty sweat deal...

Very tempting.

With my current backlog I know I won't end up playing it for months! I'll get for $13 used from Gamefly in September.

Waiting on the $5 PC price in a year and a half. I've got too big a backlog of games to buy any more for more than that.

I loved both Bioshock games. I can't wait for a 3rd, hope they are working on one. And yes it did strike me as odd that in the 2nd game I had a hard time killing splicers until mid way through the game or so. I thought the Big Daddy was supposed to be way to powerful for a splicer. The other Big Daddys appeared to be, but not me heh.

Its better to buy from gamefly. I got it used for $21.99, not sure what it is now but I had free shipping with it too.

I love how all these expensive, high-budget HD games get massive price slashes just months after going on sale if they aren't ludicrously successful. Sure it's the sign of a massively screwed-up industry, but at least it's good for those of us with more patience than money.

Oh Amazon, how you tempt me with these deals...but I won't bite! I'm not gonna get suckered into a 50-game backlog!
