DC Universe Online enters this universe in November

At a recent press event in LA, Sony Online Entertainment revealed a November release window for PlayStation 3 and PC MMO DC Universe Online (the company declined to comment on the possible effects of bridging our universe with DC's). When we pressed for a more solid release date, an SOE rep kept mum, but reiterated that both PS3 and PC iterations of the title would arrive at retail simultaneously later this year.

With a release window finalized -- falling right in line with Sony's promised timeframe, might we add -- Sony will assuredly trot out the title in a more open fashion come E3 (read: we'll see more than just Metropolis, we hope). As for The Agency? Apparently that PS3/PC MMO from SOE is still hiding in the shadows for now.

At my job (GS), its showing that this releases on 11/09. I don't know is that true or not but we'll see.

I remember when GoW3 had a date of March 30, 2009 at gamestop....

GS did have the March 16 date weeks before Sony officially announced it for GoWIII. Usually GS has dates as placeholders (ex. Killzone 3 releases in March 2011) for preorders. I can't tell you how many people goes crazy over pre-ordering games like a year ahead. @ my store we have people already pre-ordering Gears 3 and Killzone 3.

Back on topic, this (DC Universe) and Agency has always intrigued me. I do wanna see more info on this and hopefully it'll be @ E3.

Yea I know....I'm going to wait to see who has those game at a good price along with any bonuses or collectors editions that may come out

We have some good looking MMOs coming out. This being one of them. Can't wait to see how all of them do so I can make a good choice.

I too am a bit excited for this one...need to read more deets on it though, just not sure if I'll have time for it in November, but it might end up being a good time-eater next year.

I don't really understand why Sony would approve multiple MMOs for their console. It's one thing on PC where are more users but I feel as a comics game like this only appeals to NA and there is also FF-XIV coming to PS3/PC. I can't see why anyone would wanna play an MMO other than WoW anyway, even though I haven't played in years it was always the best.

WoW is good but people are looking for something fresh.

cause some people are getting tired of doing the same thing over and over in WoW? kill, kill, loot, loot. It only lasts a while.

Ps3 console exclusive? Unheard of! I await thee with open arms.

Isn't everything either PS3 exclusive or multiplatform anymore?

I'm telling you....Sony is releasing all of this before E3....they MUST have something up their sleeve....

At any rate, can't wait to get my hands on this....I hope the initial cost of the game is below $50 since there is a subscription fee

it seems like at this rate nothing is going to come out of E3 except news about Natal and the 3DS.

There is gonna be a standard and Collector's edition for PC. The PS3 is getting a "Hero" edition.

PC: Standard $50, CE $100
PS3: Hero $60

Better be more at E3 than motion controls and 3D....

Thanks MLC.....I will be buying on PS3 and PC since the subscription pays for both if I remember correctly... So I think I may go my regular route with buying games unless i find a bundle with both versions for a good price

Chris, have thy ever said they were leaning one way or the other when it came to subscription or microtransaction based?? I thought they hadn't announced which way they were going with this

They haven't yet but something tells me there will be a subscription fee

At least EXPECT for there to be a fee, so you won't be disappointed.

Everquest was created by 989 Studios. The part of 989 developing EverQuest (and other online and PC games) broke off to become an independent studio named Verant Interactive in early 1999. On April 1, 2000, 989 Studios was merged back into SCEA as a first party development group, in order to prepare for the then-upcoming PlayStation 2.

Sony was not intimately involved with Everquest. Everquest was successful in spite of their involvement with Sony, not because of Sony. Sony later gutted Verant and fired most of the head-staff, John Smedley kissed some corporate ass and got the job that he still holds today at SOE; which is basically a "do nothing" position.

Just wondering but can one play on the PC and PS3 with the same account created? it would be a nice option.
