Joy Ride MIA, but Microsoft insists 'BigPark's vision' will come to life in 2010
65
It appears that Joy Ride has been wiped as cleanly as possible from Xbox.com. Its game page is missing, and even the link to it from MS's E3 page has been removed. Joystiq contacted Microsoft for clarification and a spokesperson responded, "We're excited to bring BigPark's vision to life in 2010. However, we have nothing further to announce at this time." We followed up, specifically asking if "BigPark's vision" was still Joy Ride, if the game was currently in development and if it'd be shown at E3. The company has yet to respond to the request for clarification.
The latest on Joy Ride's status after it missed its 2009 launch was that it was going to be released sometime in 2010. Microsoft purchased Joy Ride developer BigPark last year and announced the kart racer with Avatar support at E3 2009. We'll update if Microsoft decides to let us see what's going on under the hood.
[Thanks, Pibs]

Got to say the big selling point for me wanting it was that it was free. Wish MS put more free titles on XBLA.

Me too. I'm hoping they'll have an update for us at E3 at least.

More like what features they can add with Natal to this game. While both are close in resemblance. In all accounts MS is going to use this bring Natal into arcade racers.

Which one was working? I checked the E3 page linked in this article 2 days ago and the Joy Ride link was not working, as it is now.

Right? Orrrrr sarcasm? I can't tell. I'd be pumped if it actually manages to come out for free. I really would love to pick up either Blur or Modnation Racers, but I've recently purchased Uncharted 2, FFXIII, & Alan Wake so I'm having issues justifying another purchase right now. I'm liking the new entries into the kart racing genre!

I think you get one giant canyon level to start with, and then when they release more levels you have to buy them.

I'm guessing that this game wasn't panning out the way Mircosoft had hoped so they put BigPark on some Natal crap.

If you ask me the Wii doesn't really compete with the 360 and PS3. The majority of proper gamers with consoles will have a 360/PS3.

Yes, because obviously this game comes out on the Wii. From Microsoft.

Mario Kart totally ripped off Modnation Racers. What a sad knockoff franchise.
