Yesterday, Harmonix and MTV Games launched an initiative called the Rock Band Network Affiliates Program, the goal of which is to further involve bands, music distributors and promoters in the rhythm title's track creation community. In return, prolific Rock Band Network creators will have more opportunities to collaborate with all sorts of elements within the music industry, which might increase the number of tracks that ultimately end up on the platform.
In short, it's kind of a win-win for companies and creators. And for us players, too. A win-win-win. Still, couldn't they have come up with a better, more rocking name for the program? We're imagining David Lee Roth shrilly screaming "are you ready for some affiliaaaaaaates," and it's making us very confused.

Would be nice to see the RBN take off more.

Me too. I wish RBN was around when I was doing the club circuit back in the day. Not that I think RBN would have made much difference in my career in music, but it would have been fun to see if the music I made with my friends could have got past RBN's peer review.

It just makes me sad that there is no brazilian songs in RBN, I would kill the pope for some Legião Urbana.

I hope we get lots more music for RBN... but they need more/better sorting options. I don't understand why we can't have a single, long list that's sortable the same way as song within the game. Difficulty, Artist, Song Title, Genre, etc. Having to jump between a bunch of smaller lists is a turn off and I don't end up spending more than a few minutes perusing the store...

Is it just me or do RBN songs sound muffled compared to songs actually created by harmonix? I swear every RBN song I've bought, has let me down because it sounds more like a stream than an actual high quality recording. It kills my excitement every time.

Which songs are you getting? I have "Drunken Lullabies[Live]" and "Push Push(Lady Lightning)" and neither one sounds muffled

RBN has some good songs, but if an unlimited number come out on 360, but only 5 come out each week for PS3, we end up with no chance of getting the smaller bands we may like, that don't make the top 5. And we can't preview the RBN songs on PS3. It's only good for songs you know you really want. Too bad, I hope it gets better later.

Smaller bands? Jeez, look how long it took PS3 to get a single one of the KMFDM tracks! And be thankful you're not on a Wii, that platform hasn't gotten _any_!
(Dear Harmonix, You can roll RBN tracks for the Wii into the regular store on the Wii. Really. You can. I don't think anyone would mind. There you go, no need to patch. You're welcome.)
