Why haven't you already? Between Netflix and Utilizing Play On through my Xbox I've been cable free for 2 years now. I even went as far to just have fiber optics.

PlayOn is odd, $40 for first year then $20 per year after that.

Though cable is $40 per month, so it's cheaper - and lets you stream Hulu, etc. etc. wherever you want. xD

Two words why people having cancelled cable/sat/etc.

LIVE SPORTS.

I don't live in the home market of my college, so I usually only catch them when they are on ESPN or when they play the local teams. And even then, those are often on ESPN or a regional sports network.

What sites? I can't find anything that's not super expensive or pixellated and shady. And if you're talking about live sports, I needs in.

This would be a good catch for Microsoft.

Only dampened by the fact that you'll probably need Gold, and then have to pay for Hulu if (when) they decide to start charging for it.

Still, a lot of people could cancel their cable if this happens, so..

It would balance out.

You can get them to work on your PC (Hotspot Shield) - pretty much gives you a USA IP so you can access any US only videos.

Used it once, seems to run fine. xD

I imagine that was probably just the excuse they used to cover up the fact that they had reached a tentative deal with Microsoft, or something.

Part of the deal they were drawing up probably required them to disable it on the PS3.

But, that's just my guess.

They are against viewing on TV when they aren't taking in revenue for it. Big difference.

I personally never got the point of Hulu, but I guess that's because I have Netflix and access to the networks' official sites, which also host videos now. What is it exactly that I'm missing?

This is cool though, I guess, as long as I don't have to pay any extra money over LIVE and my ISP.

You're missing what makes 7-11 and all of Xbox's other apps successful (Last.FM, Facebook, Twitter, Netflix) - Convenience! A one-stop app for all your viewing needs, comfy from your couch with your loved one nuzzled into you.

Of course if you're alone in a computer chair all day, this won't be much different for you.

For me, the point of hulu is the queue. I can track Lost (well, not anymore), alongside House, alongside Chuck, alongside Psych, alsongside Stargate, etc, etc. Multiple network's shows, one website.

Hulu is a great service, but since I discovered the joys of having an internet connection and a PS3 that plays DIVX files...I haven't had much use for it.

I'm a terrible person. =(

Right there with you Ezio. My wife and I enjoy throwing a series or two on the PS3 HDD and just knocking them out at will. It's nice to just pop on the PS3 and start viewing. No fuss.

I'm like 6 months to a year behind on everything worth watching except for Lost (PS f*ck you, Lost) so Netflix streaming does me just fine. Good on everyone else though, for their personal choices of media consumption methods.

This is the difference btwn XBL and PSN besides the price.

MS will always include more services in Live when you're paying. On the other hand, Sony has some good ideas but don't really execute. I mean, MLB-tv is cool but I'ma football fan.

If Sony is really prepping a paid subscription, I hope they take note. Every year, Live is adding something different.

Though, respectfully, MLC, I don't think you being a football fan means the execution of MLB.TV and other services are poor.

That would be the same as me saying the execution of Hulu on 360 is going to be poor because I'm a fan of books and (ew) broadway plays.

I thought the addition of MLB was a nice catch for the PSN, and the service works very well.

Still the best $20 i ever spent.

Hulu doesn't have approval from their content providers to offer their content on any TVs (i.e devices that output specifically to TV). So this will be tied up until Hulu can sign up enough content providers to allow this. And they are only going to allow it for a fee.

So don't get your hopes up.

If it's not higher quality than Hulu currently is, not too interested. It at least needs to be Netflix HD quality. Right now the best Hulu looks awful on a big TV. And if I'm going to have to pay, it needs full catalogs that stay up permanently.

I'm still holding out for Pandora, too. I use it much more than last.fm.

Pandora is just easier to set up channels the way I want. It's better at staying in styles of music and personal customization, at least for me.

Try it on the web or a smart phone.

The other option that's similar is Slacker.
