I listened to Pandora until I started using Last.FM. I found Pandora to be extremely repetitive, with a (seemingly) very limited catalog of music. I'd hear the same song multiple times in an hour.

Last.FM definitely seems to have a far larger amount of music available, and I like it's ability to track a ton of statistics about your library and it's userbase as a whole.

I tried both.

With Last.FM I have never once heard a commercial/ad interruption with the various adblockers I've got installed. I can seemingly skip as many songs as I like. Depending on what artists/tags I set a playlist to, I usually like, or even love, every song it plays. I can't say I've really found any new bands, but rarely have I heard a band that I don't like or don't think fit the style of the playlist.

With Pandora it kept stopping every few songs. I couldn't skip more than a few songs an hour, which isn't so bad, but half the songs it played were from bands I didn't like or from seemingly unrelated genres. It just felt too random and kept picking songs that didn't match the playlist I wanted.

So in my personal experience, I've liked Last.FM more. I mostly use it for "ambient, piano, sleep" now, but I still haven't found any reasons to hate it.

I've got a similar setup, but am still keeping cable for stuff like ESPN. I've got a dual tuner HDHomeRun for over the air ATSC channels + two internal ClearQAM cable tuners (only get the locals, not premium cable). I will most likely add either a Ceton 4 tuner CableCARD card or the HDHomeRun 3 tuner CableCARD tuner later in the year. I've got a couple of Xboxes that I can run as extenders for my DVR'd stuff along with movies that I've ripped and stored on my server.

It's a great environment. MS makes the BEST DVR on the market that nobody knows about or uses.

@ Ezio

I used Hulu on the PS3 brower before Hulu was blocked (or when the browser didn't cause my system to freeze) and I wasn't saying that MLB.tv was a bad idea either. I thought it was cool. I'm hoping Sony does this with other sports. I dont use the twitter or facebook options of 360 either. I have a CPU and my iPhone for that. I'm saying that MS is always in the know and when it something it gets big they add it to Live. Like facebook and twitter last year and maybe Hulu and what else they have planned this year.
If you want your service be purchased, you have do what the competition isn't and offer the best service(s), and/or features that is available.

I'm saying this, if Sony wants to have a premium service, they have to add features for the service like what MS does for Live. Right now w/ PSN being free, Sony is offering multilpayer, trophies, netflix and MLB.tv (if you have a subscription). I don't think i'm missing anything. Oh yeah, even though the PS3 does have a browser, it doesn't work all the time. Maybe its cause I have a 60GB or maybe cause the browser itself needs to be updated.

Ok, so how much did MS pay them? If it's coming to 360 I hope Sony gets it not far after....even if it's just like the MLB app and u have to have a paid memebership it's still better than nothing

I've got a WHS and really love that. I keep regular TV on the HTPC and stuff I want to keep I move over to the server (Lost, etc). You can even set up WHS to automatically move stuff from Recorded TV on the PC to Recorded TV on the server via a Media Center plugin.

I've got a 1.5 TB drive on the PC dedicated to DVR stuff. All my movies and music are on the server where I can set it up to automatically duplicate the important stuff across multiple drives. I think I've got about 4TBs worth of drives there, with another 2TB drive coming that I picked up last week for $109.

The other advantage to WHS is the backup setup. It's saved me a couple of times in the year or two I've had it, and it's great to be able to restore a system from a bare HD to yesterday's state in about 30-45 minutes.

I'm not sure when the next version of WHS is coming out (codenamed Vail), but probably by the end of the year. It's based on Win Server 2008 (current one is based off of 2003). There's a beta already out.

Comcast isn't buying Hulu. Hulu is owned by the networks.

Comcast has it's own XfinityTV service that it's trying to compete with.

@Jack Spicer PSN: watsuke

Some parts of Europe have things that aren't available in the US. Media is all about rights issues. Do you really think MS doesn't want to have more users paying them for this type of access?

For instance, they've got a deal with BT/SkyPlayer where you can watch IPTV.

And Canada gets the shaft again... I mean seriously Were America's Biggest Trade Partner, you think Shareholders, Rights holders, and Companies would finally figure that out; were always on the shaft; it makes No business sense what So Ever

There is some logic. The creators syndicate shows to networks in Canada and give distribution rights for that market via these agreements. If they started allowing new net distribution methods to jump the boarder, it would greatly reduce the value of those distribution rights that they are currently selling.

Yes, it's an old business model, but it's how things work. The vast majority of the creator's income comes from selling those rights to Canadian broadcasters, so they are going to protect that model for the time being.

Over time, it will probably change, but as revenue models and licensing stands right now, contractually it is very difficult. Hulu (or whoever) has to have agreements with whoever has the distribution rights for each region, so Canadian broadcasting companies will have to work with Hulu (or content creators here have to quit selling online distribution rights to Canadian companies).

Well it is a screwed Business model... but if you see most of the stuff Canadians have to deal with you would be kinda pissed to, I mean its not just this, its all the stuff that we get shafted on from Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo (yes they have shafted us to) alike, not to mention to countless other companies also... Bundle that with having a stupid "Consumer Protection Agency" (CRCT) that doesn't do their jobs at Protecting the Consumer, Instead of working for us, they work for companies and everything they do is against us, and makes us pay more money and more hassle to do what we used to be able to do cheaper, and easier.

This is a great addition, BUT . . . .

It's a piecemeal approach, giving us access to the Internet one piece at a time.

We've seen this approach before . . . it was called AOL.

Sweet, more crap us Canadians won't get to enjoy (at least to the fullest). Thanks, Microsoft, for investing time and money into efforts that only a portion of your consumer base will be able to take advantadge of, instead of making games that everyone can enjoy. Here's an idea, take any money you might be investing in Hulu (and Facebook, and Twitter and any other crap application) and give it to your best buddies at Rare, and ask them to use the funds to make a new Battletoads. Or give the money to Silicon Knights and ask them to make a sequel to Eternal Darkness.

I've been using PlayOn for over a year and I don't think I've had to renew a subscription for it. Hulu works great most of the time, although it does timeout if paused for too long and fast forwarding and resuming seem to be broken. But add support for Comedy Central and several other TV networks (ESPN, CBS, &c.) and you've got a winner.

TVersity also supports Hulu as well, but native 360 support will be awesome.
