Sony and Guerrilla Games have updated the official Killzone 3 website with a short teaser trailer for the game -- one which places a heavy focus on the "brutal melee system" we were introduced to during our preview last week. Check out the trailer above, and watch as series protagonist Sev applies tremendous amounts of force to Helghast troopers using his feet, elbows, knees and rifle. We can't help but marvel at the structurally questionable pile of pummeled dudes he's built. Seriously, that must have taken a while.
It's a pretty stylish trailer, though the ending just leaves us confused. Why would he don one of the Helghast's iconic, glowy-eyed helmets? It cannot smell good in there.

I was only interested before but now I also want it, most of my interest came from the pictures of the man with the wings.

stealth?
If they can make a FPS that captures the intent of what MGS3 should've been (sans clunky controls), I'm all over that.

So if I get to play as a Helghast, do I get to kill Rico?
Please for the love of god I hope so! I don't know why they brought him back yet decided to kill of Templar (and that other guy on your squad who's name i cant remember with the bandanna who was kind of bearable).
Rico belongs in games with other generic steroid soldier douche bags, games like say HAZE....
None the less KZ3 is looking good.

Undercover Helghast missions :) Hopefully this new game will develop the story a little more, and it might be greedy but I'd love to see it take part on both planets. Finish up work on Helghan then go back to Vekta to bail it out or something (maybe as Undercover Helghast). Either way I've never seen civilians represented in these games except for some cutscenes in the first one... I'd love for Guerilla to introduce some civilians in the warzone. Plus it might shed some light on how life is lived on both planets. Spose that's just a pipe dream.

Mute? Don't you mean, ". . . shoot Rico in the face"?

lol...it would be like "Executive Decision" where Steven Seagal gets killed in the like the first 10 minutes of the movie.
People apparently cheered when that happened in the theater (according to my cous).

supposedly they have been working hard to make Rico much less annoying. only reason that I can see them not just killing him off is if they maybe need him..... for Co-Op..... hey I can dream.....
...well as long as I'm dreaming then 30 sec into the game a new ISA soldier shows up and shoots Rico in the back of the head and says he was a spy and then That's your co-op charecter. then sev walks up to his waist and you both jump into the game.

will the controls for this game be good this time or what? the controls for the second one was down right horrid. aiming was a big pain no matter what settings i put it to. i guess this was my fault for jumping back into console first person shooters, after playing a lot of pc first person shooters.

The controls were not fine. Killzone 2 has some of the worst input lag of this generation, this is a proven fact just look at the eurogamer article on it.

The controls were definitely a little odd. They were not bad but they were different compared to nearly every other shooter out there.
I hope there are multiple options to choose from.

I got the game launch day and I have never noticed any input lag. I'm not saying that it wasn't there. I'm just saying that I don't think anyone would really notice, and if they say they noticed they're lying.

Wait, there was input lag?
That's strange. I could have swore when I was playing through the game that when I pushed the fire button, the guns fired. And when I moved the control stick to move.. I moved.
I'm quite possibly the worst FPS player on the planet, and if it only took me a few minutes to acclimate myself to the controls before playing through the game on normal with zero issues and having a blast, then, well...
I don't know what to tell you if you had problems.

everyone expects all games to play like their favorite game of that genre and when they don't they bitch about it, instead of adapting to it.
i actually found the controls more enjoyable and engaging then those of the COD series. after playing KZ2 then switching back to COD4, i feel that COD was too floaty like my guy was wearing ice skates which in turn ruined my experience with the game

The layout for KillZone 2 was pretty much identical to the Bioshock series. Not every FPS has to be the same as COD.

I didn't find the controls that bad actually. I have done most of my FPS playing on PC over the last decade or so, and yet when this game came out, while not ideal feeling, the controls were not as bad as people scream every chance the game is mentioned.
Also, an article by Eurogamer does not make for proven fact in my book.

I don't think any console right now could handle the graphics in the trailer.

It will likely worse *when in 3D mode*. When in normal 2D mode, it'll look better.
Remember, that .gif is taken from a tiny resolution (yes, even smaller than it currently is, which is why it looks so blurry), and is very early footage. Killzone 2 received some massive improvements before its release, and I imagine Killzone 3 will also.

Although, this makes me wonder why they're doing this before E3...Perhaps Sony just has too much to show this year?

Crazy huh? I mean, why would you possibly care about a shooter that was one of the highest critically acclaimed games of 2009?
