Sorry that was phrased weird, I just woke up. lol. I meant I hope this next installment can still work out as well as the first game did even if it might not be a sandbox game. But I really hope they still make it a sandbox O.O

It's interesting, it could be a sandbox, but the vehicles seem to be more limited, will probably be just mechs. It's probably more likely that it's linear, but I guess someone could pull it off.

I think you mean Red faction: Guerrilla not Red Faction 1. Guerilla was the third game in the series.

The very first game was non-sandbox and it was awesome. Guerrilla was cool too, but I liked the first one better

i loved guerrilla, but it is quite true. I ran with endless sprinting power, swinging that hammer and destroying every man, molecule, and structure that got in the way, while taking enough bullets to put rush limbaugh down. just as long as i could crouch behind something long enough, i was basically a GOD.

then the game did a 180 on me and basically made the guards endless, so i couldn't complete anything.

Wow, they definitely took some inspiration from Dead Space there.

And... mines, underground?

There better be a Balrog to kill.

I was a fan of Red Faction 2, but couldn't get into Guerrilla. Maybe I'll take to the new one.

I'll have to see more. I'm not liking the direction it's heading. The first one was perfect with the rebellious nature and seamless level design. It was great to rise up and fight through people trying to keep you down. From the trailer it seems like this will be about survival more than a revolution. My Red Faction needs to be a fight for revolution and/or change. Fight the power! I miss Ultor...

I'm with ya. One other thing that made the first Red Faction IMHO the best was the variations in environments - you'd go from stinking, cramped mine shafts to gleaming rich settlements no time at all. The atmosphere just wasn't the same in Guerilla (fun as it was).

I really hope they have plans for more than just miles upon miles of tunnels and rotting ruins.

Does this remind anyone else just a little bit of the premise of Doom 3?

I'm not sure what to think about this. The major downfall of Red Faction 1 and 2 was that it was set underground, so by necessity you couldn't destroy everything. That's what made Guerrilla good, IMO - since the game was set out doors in an open world environment, there wouldn't be any problems with destroying every building.

I'm cautiously optimistic about this one. I liked Guerrilla, but hopefully the underground direction won't ruin what made it good.

Hope they improved the engine much. Otherwise, I would imagine the mine is being held up by a ladder and an aluminum can like the buildings in the last game.

Even in space, the human race can't escape from lame tribal tattoos.

What a let down.

Guerilla took a terrible series and made it awesome.
Now we're back to square one MINUS one because they've added weird stupid monsters.

I LOVED Guerrilla. No other game felt anything like it. (except for maybe brief moments in Just Cause 2)

I got a kick out of this, "Guerrilla took a terrible series and made it awesome."

Are you serious? The original game is the reason why Guerrilla exists. Red Faction 2 was okay but lacked online multiplayer and a few other things. However, the first Red Faction (which was set underground and the devs have stated about the new Red Faction "It's gone back underground which is really cool.") had a wonderful GeoMod engine, excellent single and multiplayer (both online with the pc version and split-screen on the console version). Oh, and let us not forget a wonderful pc community that developed hordes of maps and mods with the released dev tools.

Guerrilla is an awesome game being a cross-breed of Grand Theft Auto and Red Faction (except no underground or rock destruction like the other Red Faction titles...).

In my opinion the first game is awesome and I am hoping for a return of rock destruction to go with the nice structural damage we saw in Guerrilla. Basically, the first Red Faction's rock damage and underground setting combined with Guerrilla's structural damage, weapons improvements, and abilities. Oh and some editing tools with a pc version would be nice ^_^.

I am not worrying too much about it being underground, despite it not being on land it looks like there will be a decent amount of openess to the environments nonetheless. The building destruction is still there and the new weapons and vehicles look sick. I also don't think this will be anything like dead space, if I recall correctly I belive there were alien life forms in the originals too so if you ask me, aliens are nothing new to the series.
