So... Guitar Hero meets Pokemon... gotta collect em all?

Can't blame Activision for wanting money for a bad product... not like they haven't done it already (Van Halen, 80's...etc)

Harmonix was responsible for Rock The 80s, not Activision.

What Charlie said, and it was only released since DLC was not possible on the PS2. Everything else was pure activision

I thought it was just developed and released to fulfill some contractual obligation? I mean, Harmonix were purchased by Viacom almost a year before the game was released, and four months before it was even announced.

Haha good eye tiptup

I have one guitar (of 8) that has a dot on the 10, but i sure dont have any with 6 8 14 or 16 lol

really though, i dont mean to sound like a whiny old man (especially since im only 20) but rock is dying and the guitar is going with it... Guitar hero is just pushing it further into the grave...

I don't care about the "design" as long as the strum bar isn't shit. My GHWT controller lasted...maybe...six months. And that was with limited usage. The little twenty dollar explorers have lasted a good two years each with repeated abuse. If they are going to be charging 70-80 bucks for a frakking guitar, they can at least give it a 1-year warranty.

It must be cool to hate on Guitar Hero now.. everyone join the bandwagon...

I for one am looking forward to the new game, so far it looks like a great track list, and they are trying to bring something new and fresh to the series.. and I'll agree with Crimson, that first guitar looks pretty slick. Not so keen on the axe one though.

Guitar Hero is an unfortunate casualty of my hate for Activision and my love for Harmonix / Rock Band. I don't explicitly hate it, it's just . . . inferior in every way.

I like Rock bands DLC songs... but I prefer Guitar Hero in every other way.. I just don't like Rock Band's fret boards and I prefer GH's style over RB's. To each their own though, but it seems anymore everyone just wants to hate on GH because it's the IN thing to do

I think it's more hate for annualizations.. And with the music genre it's like we get 3-4 guitar hero/rock bands a year!

Not that I had a guitar that had one but no more slide bar?

The concept will go nowhere though. Just like with the faceplates for the last few GH guitars. No one will care enough to actually buy one, and they'll just be more music game crap cluttering retail shelves.

Agreed. The design reminds me of the X-plorer in that it will be incredibly awkward/uncomfortable to wrap your hands/arms around the bladed portion.

I also noticed that they appear to have ditched the touchstrip introduced in GHWT guitars. I take it they've also then abandoned the tap/slide notes?

so the actual guitar part that has function is the "bong-shaped" piece in the middle. does it just click in like the wii guitars do? what about the wiis? do they just click in the wii mote to have that click in to something else?
Being serious though, the idea seems a lot better than when they first did that sticker spheel a bit back. soo many bad looking guitars. these look nice

Why can't they make guitars with replaceable components? These will be just as useless once the strum bar dies. (and it will)

I'm not just saying this to be a hip 'Activision-hatah', but seriously: I don't give a rat's ass about stickers or mods or stying or edginess or anything else - just make the damned guitar work well. I don't want lag, or star power going off when I shift a centimetre to the left or right, or a whammy bar that is simply broken.

Just make it a quality product, and I'll buy it.

No thanks. The guitars look good but probably will cost a fortune, ringing in more profits for no reason. While RB is actually moving into new territories, GH is still just doing the same thing. Releasing new versions too early, not supporting much DLC, and forcing their consumer base to constantly buy newer games and peripherals. It may be the "thing" to hate GH and Activision, but there's good enough reasons why.

I still like GH controllers. I have enough of them... but damn, I want this... The newest guitars have had problems with durability, though... My Yellow button is iffy on both my GH3 and GH:WT guitar. I love the way the GH:WT/GH5 guitars feel, but they just seem to break...

I bought two GH2 wired Xplorers from Toys R Us over a year ago and I still have one in the package because it is so solid...

Exactly. I have gone through 3 GH guitars since the beginning. The one for GH2 held up a bit, broke. The other 2 broke. I've played RB's guitar longer and with the same care. It has yet to even lose any responsiveness.

Garbage. I've had two RB guitars break on me and 3 Rock Band drum kits, I still have my guitar hero drum kit and guitar from the World Tour kit both work flawlessly.

No one is forcing anyone to buy anything. Your bias shines like the sun.

oh lord another one who would have guessed?!? Ugly ass guitar, please go back to making the controllers LOOK like guitars. The LP for GH3 was awesome. HOWEVER I am overjoyed to see that these render don't seem to include my least favorite portion of the series from World Tour onward. The slider bar. No slider bar = a possibility that I will buy this game. I'm digging whats been releaved of the tracklist so far, which is key, since I don't mess around with downloadables on music games.
