Let's not get this started

For me I played the beta of Mag and it just screamed "generic" to me, even with all it's selling points. Just not my cup of tea.

@Cloud,

You got it wrong. It's MAG> Modern Warfare 2.

You Know its true.

Both games boast enough flaws so that it can't really be said that one is superior to the other.

At least, that's the way I see things.

I like how strategic MAG games can get, but the game just feels off. Doesn't control quite as smoothly as some of Zipper's previous titles. Also, there's what, like three maps?

Modern Warfare 2 can be a bundle of fun as well, but the matchmaking sucks and the game is absolutely unbalanced.

@Da Largest

There are 4 game types, three of which are faction vs faction and feature three different maps each. So, technically there are a total of 10 different playable maps.

I just started playing MAG. It's fun, but I feel like I don't have much chance against all those level 60 players with far better equipment than me. :(

Are you kidding? Grab an LMG and a health kit. You are now on equal footing with every other MAG player.

The reason I stepped from MAG is the severe inbalance in the maps. So neutral maps I like, as long as it is 128 vs 128 peeps, I'm happy.

I stopped playing MAG because sometimes I would just sit there for 10 min. before I would get into a game of Domination. Mind you this was not a problem when it first came out, but the waits were too long so I traded my copy in just the day.

I get a disconnect from PSN (not exclusively from MAG) in the first 10 minutes after I log in to it. After that I get a stable connection. I don't start any game in the first 10 minutes.

that seems to be happening to everyone. over on the mag forums i think i read something about an 'only attacking' bug, they're probably just doing some emergency server maintenance to fix the issue

One of the things today's 1.06 patch did was to remove the account-exclusivity of the previous "UL"C (unlockable content).

I like how you told everyone to stop the flame war before it began.

Then poured the gasoline and threw the match.

I love MAG, I really do, but personally I'm not crazy about having to shell out $10 for 3 maps, for a game which is multiplayer only and already very light on maps. Is this what is gonna happen, charge us $10 per 3 maps, until a $60 game becomes a $100 game to finally get a decent number of maps? Doesn't seem right. It seems like this should have been free, or $5 at the most.

But, it's great that these 3 maps are NEUTRAL which helps avoid the balancing issues. Plus it's a 128 player mode, which I'm glad they came out with more options for 128 games.

But I think having a special heavy armor only available to people who shell out $10 is kind of a cheap maneuver, and will make things even more punishing for new players.

@ Dizazter

Its not really the number of maps, each time you go into MAG its a different experience. 1 Domination map is 4 seperate sides with different geography and buildings and theres the attacker/defender experience. I like it cuz i can go into 1 section of the map and hammer a team 1 game then a few games later get that same side and have the other team roll us. Each time is different.

MW2's Stimulus was $15 for 4 maps that in size and scale of battle are far smaller then the 3 MAG maps u get. I don't think it really hurts new MAG players by doing this. Patch 1.06 added all DLC armors to everyones account. If people really need "super heavy armor" compared to the other heavy armors that you get in game then instead of going online they might perfer an easier game on single player?

I agree with Sean, each bunker in Aqui and Dom has different strategies. So, while it is the same map, it's a different experience.

I really don't understand this "It needs a single player mode" before I'll buy it mentality. Sure, it would be nice if it had a 8 - 10 guided single player experience, but compared to the 50+ hours I've put into the game, playing with my friends and enjoying it more than practically any other console multiplayer shooter this generation, I think I'm happy with just a really great multi-player experience.

I hear you about the each time is different thing, but you can say that about a lot of other games with massive map libraries, like Battlefield 2.

Yeah I think that MW2 package was WAY overpriced too, but I don't play it so I can't comment much on it. I'm guessing MW2 also came with a lot more maps out of the box than MAG though.

What single player are you talking about? MAG has no single player other than the lame training. Would be awesome though if MAG allowed a single player vs bots experience like Unreal Tournament type of thing. Maybe it'd even earn you say 1/4 exp so you'd get a chance to unlock some stuff before facing off vs much better equipped and experienced veterans in Suppression maps picking them off from across the map with their high powered sniper rifles, when the noob is 10 feet from their base.

glad they're still supporting this game. but yeah, it's too bad the game didn't support a bots mode like in KZ2 for training purposes. or for those anti-social times when we don't feel like playing with anybody.

This DLC is beyond weak. The new maps are basically reused textures/objects from the current maps that we are all bored of. The new mode is the same as the letter part of Domination.

I can't wait This game just isn't for some people; it's more tactical than games like MW2 and BC2. If you don't have a head for strategy (or at least don't like to follow) then you may not like this game. Though some people do; especially a lot of SOCOM fans. If you've never liked FPS all that much; I've heard many say that MAG is one that they like. Most game reviews rate this game on it's quality as a First-Person Shooter; but it's so much more. I think 1UP got it right. The new patch today made this game feel polished and the DLC will definitely breathe new life into it.

If you've been thinking of this game and you're worried it's too late, Don't! Everyone starts somewhere and we need players. Head over to forums.mag.com; it's full of people, like me, who would be more than glad to assist a new person. We had 64 clan members team up last weekend (that's two platoons MAG talk; wish we could have had more, but it's a start), what other console game lets you do this?

For those criticizing map size you must remember that one domination map (theres three of that game type) has a play area about as big as 6+ MW2 maps. It takes a lot of effort to make just one map that huge; and it's a bit arrogant to shrug off the amount of work put into just one map.

MW2's Stimulus was $15 for 4 maps and 2 of those were remakes of COD4:MW1 Maps. Since I still own COD4 that is quite the Rip-Off.

Halo3:ODST was $60 for a 5 Hour Campaign and the Multi-Player was what I already owned with Halo3 + all the Maps I already bought + 3 extras. So Microsoft was basically saying "If Your a Big Fan, We Would like to Give you the Big Shaft"

I personally Love MAG, So I'm buying it. It seems a Typical Price for 3 Maps.
I get tired of the MW / COD Games cause they are Basically Straight up Deathmatch with 8-24 People and Guns... I've been playing that since DOOM people. BORING.

So I Really Like Games like Warhawk, Killzone2, Halo, and MAG.
Give me Co-Op, Give me Split-Screen, Give me Vehichles, Give me 256 Players, Give me Realistic Objectives like take out the AA... I do not want to Capture a stupid Flag... It is just Dumb. At least Disguise it as a Propoganda Speaker or a Brief Case with Intel or Something.
