Red Dead Redemption surpasses 5 million units shipped
75
More than 5 million copies of Red Dead Redemption have been shrink-wrapped and shipped to retailers across North America and Europe since the game's May 18 release -- and, presumably, folks are buying 'em. Publisher Take-Two announced the mailing milestone today, amidst its quarterly earnings, celebrating the commercial and critical success of Rockstar's little Western that could.
Just five months ago Red Dead Redemption appeared doomed. At that time, an anonymous Rockstar source told us, "It will take 4 million sales at full price to recoup the development costs of Red Dead. The good news is they are not expecting to make money with Red Dead Redemption." The accuracy of that estimate notwithstanding, today's shipment announcement suggests that Take-Two and Rockstar now expect to enjoy strong, continued sales of Red Dead.
Of course, let's not get too celebratory over a measly 5 million shipped. As if to put the upstart Western in its place, Take-Two also revealed today Grand Theft Auto IV's lifetime global numbers: 17 million sold.

I've had some VERY annoying glitches.
Doing online free roam, gang hideouts there seemed to be an outlaw stuck under the ground but we had to kill him somehow to complete the hideout, his bullets were coming from above us as well.
Another time, capturing a bounty alive.
I lasso'd him and he fell down a little gap, when I went to tie him up I couldn't, but I could pick him up so I tried that, I picked up thin air and I could only put him down where his body was on the ground. So I cut him loose to try again... I died.. lol
All of this was happening while his reinforcements had arrived.
ANOTHER time, I stuck to a wall for cover by accident, when I tried to get off the wall I couldn't move in any direction I wanted to, only backwards. So I was stuck until I loaded my last save.
But even with all these problems it's still my GOTY.

Freakin' awesome game. Can't think of many sandbox games where you actually want to skip fast travel so you can soak up the environment and all its little surprises.

I thought I would suffer the GTA Effect on this one... play a few missions, get frustrated or bored, and never play it again. Fortunately I was terribly mistaken. I'm at 98% completion and I still want tons more. Co-op DLC can't some soon enough!!

This is great news. I just stated this in the previous post. I'm happy for R*. Great game.
They should be @ minimum 8 mil sold by the years end. R* are THE devs. I can't wait for their future games. Hopefully they'll be some LA Noire and/or Max Payne 3 footage or even trailers @ E3!

Oh. If so that's kind of a lame misuse of wording.

I expect this to sell many, many more copies. Easily one the greatest games of this generation, and a lock for GOTY.
