As any of us in the video game journotainment industry will tell you, the only truly dark days are the ones you don't get to spend writing about Tomonobu Itagaki. Not only is the man a constant font of great quotes, but once you make a crack about his leather jacket and sunglasses, you're halfway through your word count. Question: How long's it been since we've written about Itagaki? Answer: far, far too long.
Mercifully, the drought will end at E3, where Itagaki has revealed he'll be announcing the inaugural project from Valhalla Game Studios. No hints about the new project yet, but when you've gone more than two months without sunshine in your life, you take what you can get.

Usually he announecs stuff @ TGS. I wonder what he unveil. I think Ninja Gaiden and DOA are both own Tecmo. Unless, its 1 of those and Tecom publishing it.
E3 is gonna be huge. I can't wait for next week.

I'm really looking forward to what he can offer after leaving Team Ninja and being able to let his creative process be free. I hope it's a strong action game that's as good (or better) than Ninja Gaiden Black...

I was literally just wondering what the hell happened to the man. I hope he has been well. And busy! And drinking.

Some people are thinking that his new game will be about airplanes. A while back, some gaming rag did an interview with him not long after his departure from Tecmo. In it, he would often use use airplanes as a metaphor for preferred consoles. Since he has no plans of doing another fighting game since he believes he created the best with DOA4, and I don't think he'll attempt a Ninja Gaiden clone, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if he did, indeed, do some sort of Ace Combat style game. I also remember him saying that he wanted to do something that would involve the Pacific Theater during WWII. Whatever the game will be, it'll be interesting, that's for sure.

There was an interview with Itagaki where he stated that since he moved on from Tecmo that it did not make any sense for him to do the same things he has already mastered.
I expect that the game will be something totally different from what he has done in the past. Maybe it will be a game about telltubies.

Can E3 just start already? Jesus, enough of these reveals of what will be revealed...I've got blueballs with all this teasing.

Teasing? Most companies ruined the teasing by announcing games a week before E3.

I always thought that he was the guy behind all the ridiculous over done T&A found in every team ninja game, until he left and Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 released with sixaxis boob control. So yea, i'm looking forward to seeing what he does by himself.
