Space Invaders Infinity Gene XBLA, PSN versions confirmed

According to Siliconera, the latest issue of Famitsu confirms what a source (and the OFLC ratings board) told Joystiq: Taito's ever-adapting shooter, Space Invaders Infinity Gene, is being released on Xbox 360 and PS3. The game appears in the magazine's table of contents.

Additionally, 1UP reports that other Japanese game magazines have confirmed the Infinity Gene console release, which is said to be a downloadable port of the iPhone game for Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network. Even if it's just a direct port, we relish the opportunity to play this already-great game without covering up any of the screen with a big fat finger.

Release date! A must purchase game.

And to think, we haven't even started E3 yet! I love, love, love this. Plus, my excitement for E3 is absolutely enormous.

pace Invaders Extreme 2 is lovely in that “hope – scroll – shoot everywhere” manner. The Bingo system still thrills me to this day.

The really interesting thing about Ipod Space Invaders was that it, supposedly, used tracks from your music library to dynamically influence levels. Nothing was static, hence the “Infinity Gene” subtitle, I suppose. No Apple devices means I haven't played the game, but it sounded really cool when it was first announced – whenever that was.

If the developers manage to keep that music functionality then I am so going to get this game – probably.

I'm going to have to rebuy this, its a great game, and its crying for an analog stick.

Nice! I'd buy the iPhone version, but the controls sucked (like most iPhone games). I'm surprised there's not PSP version though. It seems like it was built for it.

let's hope this one actually makes it over to the US PSN store, this time. the last Taito shooter that was supposed to come out on XBLA/PSN (Raystorm HD) suddenly became an Xbox exclusive for some unknown reason...

I swear, the one on the left always looks like one of the paper airplane cutouts to me.
